Are You Down With Sarah Palin's Toe Polish?

Nobody knows what the heck Sarah Palin is thinking. While the Fox News contributor and bus tour leader has gotten back on her custom Greyhound recently, just happening to make a stop in Iowa while that whole Straw Poll thingee was going on, she still has not made any announcement about her possible presidential intentions.

But a paparazzi photo of the former half-term Alaska governor's toes managed to get more buzz than candidate Herman Cain did at the event, with Andrew Sullivan weighing in on her high couture pedicure on The Daily Beast. Palin sported the black polish with white polka dots look at the Iowa State Fair on Friday (August 12) and Sullivan reminded readers that it was Sarah herself who once said, "We are so desperate in Alaska for any semblance of glamour and culture."



What was the context? A story from 1996 that mention the then commercial fisherwoman lying to her husband, Todd, about driving down to Anchorage to shop at Costco, and instead making a beeline to J.C. Penney to gawk at the former Mrs. Donald Trump, Ivana, who was there for a cosmetics department appearance.

The latest polish push came a month after Palin wore some open-toe sandals at an Autism fundraiser in New York, sporting red nails overlaid with white dots.

A mom blogger on dishy site The Stir went further in criticizing the fashion faux pas, saying the photos were proof Palin won't/shouldn't run. Why?

1) "Open toed sandals are an ideal choice for any woman NOT running for president," because they are sexy and not appropriate for corporate jobs.

2) She has dry skin around her toenails, which is a sign she needs a pedicure, stat. "I don't know who does her toes, but with what she spend [sic] on every other aspect of her wardrobe, one might think she could afford an aesthetician who removes the dead skin.

3) "Polka. Dot. Toes. Fun? Maybe. If you are 16. But at her age and position in life, it is just embarrassing."
