Four years ago, my family ran two successful businesses that had been in existence for over 25 years, have over 100 employees, most of them making over $35/hour. Those businesses were the result of working 70-80 hours a week for most of our working life.
Today, both businesses are gone, we and our children have filed bankruptcy, and all those employees lost their jobs. we are losing our home that we built 40 years ago with our own hands and those of our friends.
Why? Because the government decided to "save" the banks from their own stupid mistakes and dumped the losses of the banks on us. Tim Geithner told National City Bank that if they wanted to be saved and get $7 billion in TARP money to be sold to PNC, they had to get out of all existing real estate and construction loans by any means possible. The banksters walked onto the project we were building, praised it as a great project and wonderful job, then said, but, we're going to shut it down "for our own reasons."
The courts have said that banks acted in bad faith and without cause, but they "had the right to do so." The lawyers said that, if we had another $500,000 to spend, we could win against the bank on principle, but any judgment against the bank would have to be paid by the federal government(FDIC), and we woul...

We are just one of the many families who were "collateral damage" to the Obama administration's handing out of money to the banks. The idiot economists like Geithner, et al, care nothing for the little fish they destroyed, the jobs they destroyed across the nation. At the time, they claimed that there was too much building going on, that they were "cooling" the economy. Of the 8.3 million jobs destroyed by those actions, 22% were in construction, and many more indirectly in manufacturing, supply, services and even consumer goods were a direct result of those job losses.
Now, they are complaining that there is not enough building going on.
Total idiots in government.
