When the economy took it's first nosedive both myself and my husband were extremely afraid of losing our jobs. His company made major cuts and he was extremely lucking to have not been layed off however salaries were frozen. The end of last year my husband received his first raise in 5 years! So for us - yes! Every year things have been getting a little better! :)

Incorrect! I know how to read. Apparently, you need a test in literacy! The question never references the country. The question posted was "Are YOU better off than YOU were four years ago before Obama the Celebrity President took office?". Ut seems that the lack of education in our country has faltered. Learn how to READ!!!!!!

Clue: You does mean you...singular or plural. Therefore you were unjustified in correcting me or anyone else who knows English & grammar, without assuming someone isn't anwering a question asked in literal terms. If you need a tutor, I can recommend one! Or is it that you choose to be aggressively negative & argumentative?!

In the last 4 years we have received a single cost of living increase of about 4.5 percent. I would have to investigate but I am pretty sure that totalling up everything that prices HAVE exceded that !

Hell, no! First I lost my job, and then about a year later my husband lost his job. Explanations, the economy. Translation=the economy is tanking due to the economic chaos this president has caused. His attitudes on everything have caused things to be much worse, and his lack of leadership and knowledge on any policies are pathetic.

I'm working again, finally. My full time job ended under Bush's proposal that companies who outsourced their jobs would get tax cuts. That left my family in a one pay check home, living paycheck to paycheck which brought me close to losing what I did have and worked for since I was 19.

5 years ago I lost my favorite job ever. 2008, under Bush, when the economy tanked. They had to dismantle my entire division. I was heartbroken. After 3 years of under-employment, I now have a great job with good benefits. The casualty is the enjoyment.

I owned my business and was making 150,000 a year. of course I was on the road for 300 days that year but I was happy and looking forward. Today I have a part time job at minimum wage. I lost my business. and I am going to be homeless soon. Quite a big difference. The destructive power of the Federal Reserve and augmented by the power of the Federal Gov't collapsed the economy. I have not recovered yet! One good thing is I am completely out of private debt! So I do not have anything owed.

Obama turned -6.4% GDP to positive GDP in less than 6 months and then kept it there. He has turned jobs being lost at the rate of -741,000 to 64,000 in 9 months and then added 3.1 million new jobs in the economy. He  pushed 19 banks and General Motors out of socialism, back to capitalism, in less than a year and a half.
China's employees have realized their worth and have begun asking for raises. Of course those greedy businesses don't want this, however, it hasn't stopped the Chinese people from retaliating. Many who go home for vacations never return to their city jobs choosing instead to stay in rural areas where family have been able to make a living for generations. This is hurting businesses in China.

Of course the GDP is up it had nearly a trillion dollars dumped into with Bush and Obama combined.
GM same deal if they could not recover after being handed 65 billion dollars they do not deserve to breath much less live.
But at what cost record national bebt the dollar being worth less than even Australia's currency, and a reduced USA credit rating making all future loans at a higher interest rate and therefore harder to pay off.
National unemployment hit 10.2 at it's highest under Obama and is still higher than when he took office.
  • Bella Uranos7 2012/04/29 20:22:18

When the country is losing over 700,000 jobs a month unemployment is expected to get worse. It was 8.3% when Obama signed the stimulus a month after taking office.
  • Uranos7 Bella 2012/04/29 20:34:17

and it inceased to 10% and stayed at 9% for TWO YEARS after he signed it so it did nothing or made things worse.
Only an idiot would take staying the same as a win.
