My business has shrunk because people have less money to spend. Look around at all the retail businesses that are no longer in business. Our economy is in the toilet, everything costs much more, many people have lost their homes, health care has almost doubled in cost, and I could go on and on. We are in terrible shape with no relief in sight unless we make a large change soon.

Here is the fact, my friend. You need to get used to Obama being President till 2016. The fact is Romney is a loser. Romney will lose in Nov. Party hard, my friend
Romney and his croney friends support legislation that gives freedom to the Oligarchs to strip mine wealth from hard working people. Reagan's trickle down economics is like feeding oats to a horse and hoping that a few oats will come out the other end to feed the crows. It has been 35 years, where's the trickle down?

Did you see Govenor Romney in GOP debates???? He barely won the nomination of his own party. Debating has not proven to be his strong suit... Not much actually has that I have seen.

So how will Obama defend the 6 trillion in worthless spending? He'll be targeted for it and nailed to the wall! Can't wait to hear him spin his way out of all the lies and failures!!!!!

How is Govenor Romney planning to do this???
  • DavidK newleaf 2012/09/10 04:26:24

by asking Obama why he didn't keep to his promise of being a one term President if he didn't lower the unemployment rate to under 8%, or to ask him how his 6 trillion in wasteful spending has helped our economy!

So I'll confront you now. NO LIBERAL YET HAS ANSWERED THIS YET! Will you dare be the first?
what part of Obama's 6 trillion $$$ has benefited America the most? If that is too difficult, how about explaining the 8.1% unemployment?!?!?!? He said in his own words, If I don't lower the unemployment rate below 8%, I will be a one term President.
Why is he still running then?

In Oct. 2011 republicans blocked a bill introduced by Obama that would have put 2 million people to work on our infrastructure, a bill with tax incentives that would have help employers and veterans. Tax credits would have been available to businesses that hired vets. Another bill blocked by Republicans to help small businesses was a break this year on equipment depreciation. As an incentive to help stimulate manufacturing, if a business would purchase new equipment, this year, including cars, trucks, heavy equipment, any purchase over $500 then the business could depreciate that purchase 100 percent instead of the usual 5 year scale. This would not only had helped small business owners but would have helped create jobs. Your Republican friends are so self centered and so determined to take back the White House, they are willing to crash the economy. It's the "I got mine and screw you too." position. They worship their goddess sociopath, Ayn Rand.

If I want to be thorough I'd have do include a comparison of my home value. I'm not sure what it was exactly four years ago (so that might be worse) but it was definitely on a sharp decline as where now it's going back up.

I also believe my retirement has gone back up so is higher than it was four years ago.

So the possibility about the house aside, I'm making more money and paying less in taxes. The house and our cars are more energy efficient. I'm in much better health.

I also don't spend my evenings worrying that we're about to slide into another great depression.

Really. This is what you go to bed at night thinking. I'm say I'm better off and instead of perhaps arguing that I'm as statistical outlier (or some other argument a reasonable person might try to make) you just tell me I'm a lair (for making a statement of fact about myself) and that "nobody believes me".

Dude that is just the weakest retort I've seen on Sodahead for a LONG time.

In the past four years both my wife and I have received promotions. We also play a little less in taxes. These are facts. Some of our costs have gone up but SOME have gone down. Overall my family is better off. That is just a fact. If you're going to dispute the validity of that fact to the bigger picture that is a reasonable argument. On the other-hand if you are going to dispute a fact about me (then claim "nobody" believes me and that ANYONE who says the same MUST be lying) then you just sound like an idiot.

Darn. You nailed me. I have no come back to your clever photograph. And I am of course most certainly deserving of it for honestly answering a simple question am I better off.

Since I'm obviously such a big dumb liberal, please help me. How SHOULD I have responded. Would a lie be the good conservative thing to do.

Or perhaps I should have replied with a clever Photoshopped picture that has absolutly nothing to do with the subject to really make my point.

    Social Security is considered welfare.

SSI is welfare. Social Security benefits are earned benefits for which you have paid taxes for your entire working life. If self employed you pay the whole tax bite. If an employee, you pay 6.2% of your wages in the form of a payroll tax.
  • BlackSouth TommyB 2012/09/08 05:05:21 (edited)

Welfare is the same thing. if you work it is taken out as a tax, So is unemployment.
  • TommyB BlackSouth 2012/09/08 13:51:58

I paid the Social Security Payroll Tax for 47years. The benefit I receive is based on my highest 35 years of earnings. If I had worked another year the SSA still would have used only the highest 35 years. That is not welfare. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is based upon a combination of age, assets and health factors. The poorest who have never worked automatically qualify for SSI along with Medicaid at age 65. That is welfare. The poor who become disabled, regardless of age, qualify for SSI and Medicaid. That is welfare. An extended unemployment benefit, for which you have not paid payroll taxes, is welfare. An unemployment benefit for which you have paid payroll taxes, is not welfare but is an earned benefit.
