I'm not even proud to be American....This country is an embarrassment, and a joke.

Some of the people in this country can be decent, intelligent, level headed, and other good qualities.Though there are a lot who are just outright fat ass douche bags.

I'm a proud Conservative American.

How does one have a political affiliation before one is even old enough to vote legally?

When I was 16 the very last thing on my mind was arguing politics endlessly.

I will be 18 in 15 months but at least I care about the direction of our country. I know a lot of kids who have political affiliations though. Why do you care though? It's important to know what's going on in the world regardless of you are old enough to vote.

I don't care; I was just wondering why you have an affiliation before you can even participate.


Caring about social issues is fine;

I hope you get to travel extensively and meet different people in the real world from all walks of life before you make up your mind so decisively about what and who you are.

In the original meaning of the word, OH HECK YEAH! However in the convoluted change the meaning, change the message, Bizarro world we live in today the word liberal is synonymous with control freaks who want an out of control government to control every aspect of out lives from birth till death.

Specifically socially liberal. I believe in staying out of people's private lives/decisions.

Thank you for the synopsis. I've marked it to watch when it clears up a bit. I really hope we are becoming more enlightened. I don't do TV but from observations in the real world I think we agree on much more than we are given credit for.

Conservatives have never brought the downfall of a great nation, it has always been progressives/liberals who do not realize what a great nation they already lived in.

A great nation where 50 million people who need medical care are pushed out of line because their wages and benefits are too low?

A great nation which believes if these hard working citizens ask for more from their Fortune 500 corporations, so that they can be successful too, are the greedy ones and should just be content with what they have?

A great nation where if you love someone of the same sex as you, we say "tough luck" and deny them the tax benefits of people who are of the opposite sex?

A great nations who points the blame at teachers, police, and firefighters for it's poor economic state, even though everyone knows the top 1% is making thousands of dollars every hour?

The only thing I see in this great nation is one that could be greater, and the only thing I see in the way, is the Republican party and it's supporters.

Until FDR allowed the communists into the party, the party was conservative. The USA rose to be the world leader on conservative, Constitutional principles. We can see the recent switch to more liberal, socialist principles taking us back down.

Funny that America had one of it's last two golden ages under progressives, be they Republican or Democrat?

The only golden age since progressive Wilson brought us the government schools and the Federal Reserve was the 25 years of Reaganomics.

Some might argue that America's greatest golden age was under the Eisenhower, who was progressive.

You broaden the meaning of progressive; the progressives are the communists FDR brought into the Democrat left wing; one who espouses progress is not a political progressive. We obtain progress by the American spirit of individual success and accountability; not because of government.

Firstly, you're wrong. The term "progressive" was used long before FDR was even born. Presidents Teddy Roosevelt, James A Garfield, Abraham Lincoln, and even Speaker Thaddeus Stevens, were all progressive Republicans. You overestimate the number of communists who affiliate themselves with the democratic party, there are very little.

But that doesn't mean you aren't true. It is ultimately up to the individual to be accountable for his/her actions, and to achieve success. But why does that mean they have to do it entirely on their own? Without anyone's help? Does it make me dependent that I rely on a Pell Grant to lighten my student loans so that I don't leave college in a debt with interest greater than my starting salary? That I use Medicaid to pay for regular check ups, to keep myself from developing life-threatening heart disease? Despite my intention to repay Uncle Sam with civil service?

Being "dependent" on government doesn't mean you aren't independent as well.

Progressive took on a new meaning when the communists took over that wing of the democrat party (FDR). It is the progressive marxism policies of FDR and LBJ that have broken our economy and our economic system.(by design). There are plenty of private scholarships, medical clinics, etc that do the same thing; there would be SOOOOOOO many more if they didn't have to compete with government. Those are not responsibilities of the Federal Government.

Well, I'd argue it was the last 32 years of failed policy, and you're again overestimating the power and number of communists affiliated with the Democratic Party.

What about those who don't qualify for private scholarships. Because many of them are for the absolute geniuses, those who are 4.0 valedictorians and did 30 extra curricular activities every day after school, and the others are for athletes (which is total BS, athlete's shouldn't receive an education for something not academic in nature). There are several that are gender or race specific, and most don't apply to lower middle class white males like me. I applied for everything I could, and didn't get a single one. I applied for things that I wasn't even applicable for, and none of them returned with acceptance. My parents have no spare money, so I couldn't borrow from them. The number of scholarships that apply to socially disabled, lower middle class white males with above average intelligence looking to major in social sciences are few and far between.

That is where we disagree. The responsibilities of government.

Both parties, progressives on both sides. JFK and Reagan got in their way with that capitalism stuff; progressive policy is not supposed to LIFT America/Americans; we know what happened to JFK and attempted on Reagan.

Hell no and thank God for that much. I just can't subscribe to crazy, it's like beer, I could never acquire that taste. Therefore I wont get to hang with all the cool kids...
