Are you a Liberal or Conservative ? I am proud to be a Liberal, here is why

Che Guevara - Hero 2011/04/10 12:54:59
I am a Liberal, and to me, that first and foremost means sharing. When I am fortunate, I share with the less fortunate. It doesn't just mean just giving a few bucks or pitching in when there is a disaster. It means making sure the less fortunate have the necessities it takes to survive.

I am not gay, but I support gay rights, not only because I support the constitution, but because I have gay friends. If I found out one of my children was gay it wouldn't make a difference to me one way or the other as long as they were happy and knew they were loved.

I am not a minority, but I fight racism. Everyone should have the same rights. If anything, bigotry and racism should be criminalized.

I am not on unemployment, but I don't mind paying to support help for the unemployed. I don't think anyone should starve or lose their dignity because they lose their job.

I am not religious, but I support religious freedom. I think other religious people should do the same. Instead of trying to convince others that their religion is better than someone else's, they should show some respect and in turn they may receive some.

What are your thoughts ?

You!

I am proud to be a Conservative. I have lived my life very conservatively, (I have always lived beneath my financial means). I worked very hard and saved for emergencies. My home was paid for before I sent my children to college. I do not owe any money to anyone. ZERO debt, therefore I can concentrate on my family since charity begins at home. I believe that when a person is financially independent then they live a life free of worry. I believe that a country that is financially independent can also live free from worry and can promote to the people to work hard to earn what you want to achieve. independent live free worry promote people work earn achieve work hard to achieve independent live free worry promote people work earn achieve work hard to achieve

I just read the above exchange. You are a patient man. And thanks for your service. I answered a question that the commie sent to me, and then he jumped all over me, just like I knew he would. In the same breath he talks about freedom. I guess he means "freedom to agree with Che or die!". I don't think anyone really can be that stupid not to see that level of hypocrisy. Or maybe he is. What I do know is that no matter their intentions, lefties and commies are eating this nation like cancer. Free speech cannot exist within communism/socialism. If this commie could, he would make sure you and I never post on this site again. He would silence us. You and I, on the other hand, like to hear from Che and Joseph, because they run their mouths and do all the work for us. They expose themselves.

Where has Michael Moore been lately? Did you eat him? You kind of look like you did. Anyway, I know I'm not gonna make one dent in that know-it-all fat head of yours, but I'll try. Below is my answer to the question "What does the Confederate Flag Mean To You?" that I posted a few weeks ago:

Resistance to an over reaching federal/nationalist government. That's what it has always meant. I know that the libtards have convinced most people differently. And I don't deny that evil people with evil ignorant intentions used this flag to represent them. Are you going to tell that people haven't used Old Glory for the same type of things? The federal government was trying to end segregation, and rightly so. When local jurisdictions are allowing the murder and inhumane treatment of its citizens, then someone has to step in. That's what the feds did at that time during the end of segregation. The KKK high jacked this powerful flag of resistance for themselves, and they soiled it.

I do not think the feds should be telling me what car to drive, where to set my thermostat, control my heath care, ban my firearms, or any of the other nanny state B.S.. So to me, The Confederate Battle Flag means what it always: RESISTANCE TO AN UNCONSTITUTIONAL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, southern style.

I am very Conservative now and proud of it. I still share what I have not because its part of a week or a mandate, but because I want to. I have a gay daughter that I love and she is also a Conservative. I'm not a religious person but I know we were founded on Godly values and will fight to remain a Godly country.

Now in Europe they used to say, "If you are not a Socialist under 30, you have no heart. If you are not a Conservative over 50 you have no brain." Maybe true. But Socialist-Democrats have well straddled that line, and is both Humanistic and Social-Justice, with Capped Capitalist goals without Crippling Capitalist Greed. BTW - It is hard to say this but until Reagan gave the GOP to the Plutocrats, I was a Goldwater Republican. But I had a world wide Experience, and Education (on your Dime - thank you) and I came to realize only one Policy makes sence. I discuss it; http://www.sodahead.com/unite...

    Well Che,
For the second time ever (in the same month I might add) I agree with you on something.

I do believe where we part the way is how this is carried out, which you state with your many "I" in your post but the liberal way is "yours". When you move from you volutarily taking your money to help others and go to taking MY money to do so how you see fit I have a BIG problem.

In doing so the liberals do exactly what they are supposedly against. I work hard for my money and I will donate and help who I choose to help NOT what the government decides to do with my money. Forcing people to do something against their will is not freedom.

I am 100% with you on your beliefs (well, except for the religious part - I am a Catholic). when I see so many people who doing without due to no fault of their own, and then I women walking around in $300 shoes, men in $1,000 suits, and their kids dressed in similar fashion, I want to cry. These kids have gadget, gimmick that comes out. And for the most part, they think this is their due. I grew up in a household of 8 - mother, father, grandmother, 4 girls, one boy. The girls all shared one bedroom until we were old enough to be on our own. We had 1 1/2 baths, 1 TV for the entire family, 1 car - the family car. We never thought anything of it. We learned to SHARE!
Today each child MUST have their own room, their own tv, phone, computer, etc. I've seen signle family homes with as many as four and five cars parking in the driveway. What are they learning. that everything is ME ME ME!!! Whatever happened to the idea that we are all one family and as such must take care of one another.

    Aunti,
You are so right. I grew up about the same as you. We were a family of 5 with 1 bathroom, one used car, and a 19" black and white TV. My best form of entertainment was my transistor radio and the public library down the street. We had to share, it was just part of life. Family ties were much closer.

But on the other hand we are more connected with the internet and are able to share more ideas with a wider group of people. I never could have even imagined that when I was young.

I had more or less the same life as Aunti except, I was the only surviving boy (2 bothers died in infancy) so I had the single room. My kids however, have their own rooms, their own Computers and Cell Phones. Hard to put the Jelly back in the Jar, and as sweet as many memories were, and useful in life, I wouldn't give up google for any of it. Also, I went to Vietnam 66~67, and was a Northern White Kid, and watched Black Americans killed and maimed. Then I came home to Biloxi Mississippi, to go to School, and was shocked, and dismayed at how horribly they treated Blacks who were dying in droves for them in Vietnam. I am unwilling, nor do I desire to go back to that crap again. America wasn't wonderful for all Americans in the 50s/60s.

For someone like myself, who considers himself a real libertarian conservative, as opposed to the fake neo-conservative type. I actually, agree with most of your thoughts on the issues that you cover in this blog. You sound like a true liberal, as opposed to the fake neo-liberals today, who now justify illegal wars, and secret government spying on Americans, TSA groping people at airports and torture that they condemned just a few years ago when war criminal Bush and Cheney occupied the White House.

I'm curious however, what's your position on gun control? Do you agree with Thomas Jefferson who described himself as a "liberal" and said, "The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

Or, do you go along with the neo-liberal position on gun control? Who believe that American citizens should be disarmed, because a armed general public is far more dangerous than an armed government.

I believe in responsible gun ownership. As long as you are law abiding citizen you shouldn't be hassled for owning guns. I do believe that risk factors like mental illness, violent criminal history, and excluding guns from political functions, and drinking establishments, do have their merits in law.

Because, I don't fit into any of those categories. I got no problem with your position on the 2nd amendment. Everyone should be a responsible person whether they own a gun, or a car, or a baseball bat.

I guess the only area of disagreement about a armed general public that I have. Is that all those conditions which you listed that should disqualify a person from owning a gun.

The government can now just label someone as a "violent mentally ill person" and prevent someone from owning a gun. Like secret "no fly, no buy" gun lists for example. No judge or jury, the government just puts you on a no fly list, and you can't fly or buy a gun.

One of the great things about living in Texas, is that there's a generally accepted belief among people, that you can own your gun no matter who you are. As long as I can have my gun to protect myself from you. You might be surprised to see how "civil" a collective public can behave, when almost everyone is armed.

I forgot to mention, I believe that anyone who is convicted of using a gun in the commission of a crime should receive life in prison without parole. I think that would serve as a way helping to teach that guns are only to be used for defense.
