As we go from the general term, "democracy" we go to the specific term, "republic." Yeah, I've read the psuedo historical and psuedo political science crap and watched the video this question refers to.

We are a "Representative Republic" meaning we elect representatives through a democratic process to vote on our behalf.

I think you wrote the wrong word. The term is "representative democracy." There was a pseudo political science BS going around a couple of years ago, disciminated by the John Birtch Society, among others.

We are a republic in the strictest of terms. A republic is a country made up of a state or federation of states; hence, the term "Representative Republic". I understand the need by some to have the word "democracy" forced into our form of government, and that's fine, albeit wrong. We do practice democracy in our voting of leaders, but not in our running of government.

Both.
All democracies are Republics, except less than a dozen which are Constitutional Monarchies, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium, Spain, the UK etc

A democratic republic. The genius about how the US was founded was that we were essentially founded by intellectuals who were very familiar with the history of western political thought and tried to design a constitution that would try to take into consideration all the knowledge from Thucydides, Plato and Aristotle to Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke and Montesquieu.

A republic, in the sense we can still turn this thing around. The real republic that we need, begin to change when the progressive movement began. 90% of the things we are complaining about. Were created with progressive ideology. Once the government begin to take care of you, then they also control you. Ask the Ukrainians under Stalin. A government that can give you everything, can also take everything you have.

They way I understand it is a true Democracy would vote on every little law that would ever be passed.A Republic is a democratically elected panel of represenatives who make laws and vote in their constituates places.
