Today I checked out a question I had answered yesterday [a call for the impeachment of Obama]. I tried to respond to someone who had replied to my comment and discovered I had been blocked. I couldn't respond to someone else, I couldn't reply to my own comment -- nada.
Obviously, this guy is blocking anyone who disagrees with him about anything.

And, also today, another person had posted a "goodbye" statement. On her way out the door she called all liberals 'losers who want to destroy our country.' I was blocked there before even being allowed to respond once.

What is it with people who toss out the insults then block you from responding?
I make this pledge: I have never blocked anyone -- nor will I ever do so. I'm not here to defend people from displaying their own stupidity and my skin is thick enough to take dissenting opinions.

We either agree with the principle of free speech or we don't, right?

I would NEVER block someone from commenting, even if someones opinion is different from yours you can still learn from each other! Sometimes you can educate someone else by listening to how they think and why they think that way, sometimes you just have to agree to disagree but all in all everyone is entitled to their own opinions and should be able to voice them freely!

some of the most important lessons I've learned have been from those I disagreed with.

of course, if one's intention is to refuse to learn, I suppose blocking is the most efficient way to accomplish it.

Yes unfortunately there are those on here who simply like to hear their own opinions voiced but do not wish to hear anyone who might disagree with them! It's sad that they are so willing to just shut down without listening!

I have stated this before and will again...

I have been FORCED to block two people. This was due to them replying (more like attacking) through my mail tool as they obviously did not want others to see their twisted, vile selves as they truly are. I am talking obscene name-calling. This is crazy as I have never met them and the only thing between us is an opposing point of view. Calling them cowards is being quite kind...not that some deserve that kindness. (Please note this does not include ALL conservatives, just the "Insult & Block" crowd.)

Some of these demented folks can't take rational thought relating to an opposing view. My advise to them is get the hell off SodaHead.

If ya can't take the heat get off the site (and good riddance).

yes, one person has followed me back to my profile page and insulted me. unbelievable. obviously, he wasn't pleased that, when he insulted me on a blog-site, I ignored him. I ignored him and he shut up, eventually. blocking him would have been stooping to his level, it seems to me.

These are people who terminate discussions as soon as a dissenting opinion is posted. I guess they either don't understand the concept of discussing, or they are so unsure of their beliefs that they cannot withstand opposition.

people in our congress defended a corporation over a person who was gang-banged and not allowed to prosecute. now that's evil.

I don't block either. In facts I take it as a compliment when I am blocked. I list the blockers and why they blocked me( that is if I know) on my profile. In the future be aware even if they block you if you've already answered YOU CAN edit your original reply or comment and let 'em know you appreciate their block! Good post. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't block.

I often feel complimented by a block, too.
the first one I encountered today was double whammied. I couldn't respond to anyone else's comments on the post. they were people I agreed with -- so maybe they'd been blocked, too. I tried replying to my own comment and couldn't.

a person who can't handle disagreement at all -- what a sad way to live.

Even if I disagree w/ someone , I still feel I can grow as a person thru civil debate w/ them. If the author of a post blocks you you can't respond to anyone on That post, you can edit if you've already commented tho'.
