THESE are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine
patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he
that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.

Great words from an original patriot! Freedom was the essence of the Revolutionary War. Now many apparently see no need for it any more? Look at the numbers hanging on to a corrupt government in hopes of getting something for "free". They have failed to reason that, with the current administration, "free" will lead to the bankruptcy of our nation.

They can't get it through their thick skulls that nothing in life is free. We are paying through the nose for all that free stuff with heavy unemployment and hefty taxes.

This is the reason that Obama won and we are back in the tank once again. What needs to be done is put a deadline on the unemployment compensation and force the jobless to get out and find a job. It may sound cruel but it needs to be done. The government is out of money and we can't keep using the credit card.

There use to be a deadline on unemployment. Six to 8 weeks. I can't remember.

Men's souls will be tried soon, if they're not already, and like that old saying goes:
"When the going gets tough, the tough get going." As for the rest of the men, they will "shrink from the service of their country" and get left behind.
