Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus announced today
that theme of the Republican National Convention's second night will be "We Built It"
— a theme aimed at "highlight[ing] America's entrepreneurial strength
and our people's incomparable work ethic," as well as extending the
purposeful distortion of President Obama's "you didn't build that" line.
At
a July 13th campaign rally in Roanoke, Virginia, Obama spoke candidly
about the important role government funding plays in helping businesses
succeed.
"Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive," Obama told attendees. "Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business — you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."
Ironically, Obama's point is made by the very arena in which the convention is being held.
"[T]he stadium where the GOP will be announcing 'We Built This!' was financed primarily by the government," writes The Daily Dolt.

Real live human beings that work and send their hard earned dollars to the goobermint?
The arena was built by a British construction firm, Architect and structural engineer are both American private sector companies,..... so tell me again how the arena was built with Goobermint dollars
And, the "We Built this not the government stance" of the Republicans looks silly in a building that was MOSTLY build with government funds, dontcha think?
It was the STATE goobermint,... NOT the Feds.
And again,... WHERE did the goobermint get the money?
You're missing the obvious point which is was President Obama said in the first place, they did not build it without help. Did they build the roads going to this area? No. They used roads they did not pay for with private money.
You can't logically win this argument. Saying the money came from tax payers doesn't change the fact that they did not build the arena without government help, just like President Obama said in the first place.
