    I dont know . I asked a similar question.
I think that it opens the door for more abuse it the system, ever see how much money people in non profits get paid...ENORMOUSE AMOUNTS of money. Thier job is to SPEND all the money so it looks like they are not making anything and are still in DEBT......We already have too much debt....they will keep asking for more money and taxes will go up and so will healthcare...this sounds so WRONG to me....

Since you have categorized co-op and PO together, I had to choose undecided.
Public Option would be administered by the government, if not immediately, definitely eventually.
Co-op, on the other hand, is owned and operated by the members thereof. IF it IS actually a co-op. Of course, I don't think the government in general or Obama in particular would ever "give" a co-op to us. I'd have to do some more research and deliberation into the matter to say for sure, but I doubt any "government issue" co-op would be anything but a purely Orwellian concept.
The question that comes to my mind is, can we, the people, come up with a better idea?
I think so. I don't know what it is, but I guarantee it's nothing that has been assigned or offered to us yet.

In the true Liberal way, they've once again just changed the words and re-packaged it, but it's still the same disastrous govt. run health care plan it was from the start--and always will be until they get it passed.
    These people are despicable!!!

you obviously have no idea what you're talking about, do you?

aren't you a classy lady? blocking is pointless and your insult is too.

why don't you learn what you are talking about before you start posting and broadcasting your ignorance all over the web.

gov. run healthcare has never been the issue. they are simply working on providing access to existing private care for uninsured people.

baby, if you've got balls adn can "take it", unblock me and then we'll talk. right now, you're the one with your fingers in your ears.

Our problem with the healthcare is caused by over ambitious/greeded doctors, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies. Doctors only spent five minutes with each patient and they became pill pushers and they charged the insurance companies or patient the full hour $150 +. Doctors in this country see 10 patients an hour when in other countries they see 3 patients because they are regulated. Doctors just listen to you for 2 minutes and ordered multiple exams and give you prescriptions. There is not quality care as in England where doctors performed the vital signs exam and digital exam plus ask multiple questions to determine the helath poblem. It is believe that hospitals give money to doctors who ordered more tests and drug companies also compensate them. In the other hand Hospitals overcharged patients and insurance companies. My spouse was 2 days at a hospital and they charged $43,800. The service was substandard, no towels, no grooming service no even a toothpaste or a comb. A pain killer was $ 55 -100 a tablet, they charged hundreds for an IV that he never had, etc. Nobody regulates their charges and there is a lot of fraud going on. Yes, lets regulate these thieves. Insurance companies are increasing the premiums to employees to $ 400 a month because the doctors and hospitals are out of control charging huge amounts for poor (driving -in) service. Somebody has to stop this. Medications are so high that we seniors cannot afford them. Politicians do not care as they get free medical coverage and huge salaries, but many of us cannot afford to go to the doctor or pay for medications. Doctors value their qualifications by telling us how many houses they owned. Healing is not longer their goal, but charging more and increasing revenues.

If you have any doubt about the intentions of the bill currently in Congress, please read the bill. It is available online in many locations.

This bill provides for a "Commissioner" and his appointees who will decide how health care is provided to the entire country.

They will decide who gets what treatments. They will decide what illnesses will be covered. They will make life and death decisions which should be between a patient and doctor.

Sure, you can keep your current insurance, but you will have to pay a tax to do so.

This bill will give "The Commissioner" real time access to the bank accounts of EVERY AMERICAN CITIZEN as well as every business with a payroll over $250,0000. What does health care have to do with my bank account?

This bill is not about health or about care. It is carefully designed to give the Government knowledge of where every dollar is in America. It is all about money and control.

Read the bill. Do not defend empty promises from Obama.

    No

NO. Co-ops would be too small to be effective. A true public OPTION would simply be another insurance company BUT would be (by law) non-profit. That is what most Western European countries have and it works well.

A public option would force current insurers to lower rates to stay competitive.

BTW - We already have Medicare and Medicaid. The simple solution IMHO would be to open Medicare to all ages.

the co-op idea is so ill defined that no one knows exactly what it would look like or how effectively it would compete with commercial insurers.

The lib's in control don't care what you want to call it, they just want you to open the door and let them in. Once inside , they will make the people serve the govt.

Remember, it's not about health care, it's about control.

    Yes

they can change the name all they want, but just like the "fishy" flag website being changed to "reality check" the more the name changes the more "control" remains the same.

I know I've said this before, but think about the "non for Profit" being included in the name. . . AARP is in support of any and all Obama Care health plans. . . why? how about a little payback for all the funding they gave to the Obama campaign. . . how about those words "non for profit". . . those words ring huge dollars in tax breaks for what is supposed to be a corporation. Remember when Obama wanted to take that tax exemption away from the Catholic Church?? just a little food for thought. . . this just makes me say hmmmmmmm.

oh oh and then there's Axelrod . . . follow the money Chicago! Pharama! Campaign adds! health care adds! 24 million!!!
