Many politicians start out clean but when you swim in a sewer you stink. Same with religious institutions. they have become a good business for the motivational speaker crowd.

Both are human institutions, and since human beings are flawed and guilty of sin, then the two institutions are fallible in the same way as humans are.

RELIGIONS ARE CORRUPT (THINK CATHOLIC CHURCH & ALL OTHERS) think about the "crimes that go unreported", think about all the mkoney they collect and "INVEST" in real estate, bonds, cars, homes in the name of GOD !1 Think of all the "do gooder" organizations that people donate their property tohelp them do "good things by selling it for a good cause". But the organization "keeps it" for the" LEADERS" use for vacatations !! THINK about our "world leaders" that promise to do well by us, but secretly "sell us out" by sending our jobs overseas or just be generally "GREEDY" by overtaxing us to death !! By the way I think that "estate taxes are a DEATH TAX !! The rich somehow get around this one !!

Kind of an unanswerable question. People are flawed. We all have the capacity to do good and bad, and most of us exhibit a tendency to favor one or the other to some extent. All institutions are made up of people who are flawed. That doesn't mean that the premise or the intent of the institution is flawed. For instance, the perfect political institution on earth is the United States in it's pure constitutional form. We have had the largest degree of problems in the in politics the farther we get FROM the original principles. Not the more we FOLLOW the original principles, which are nearly perfect politically. We flawed PEOPLE keep straying from the plan. The foundations of the Church, (Jesus Christ) are perfect. We get ourselves in deeper and deeper trouble the more our culture detaches itself FROM the Christian ideal. So it is not the institution of the Church which is flawed, but our straying from her that brings problems. The institution is filled with people, and people are flawed.

Anyway...... What institution can hold up to it's own principles at all times? Even when those principles are perfect? None. What is the answer to this? On at least the face of it, it seems we should each strive to be as obedient as possible to American constitutionalism in o...

On at least the face of it, it seems we should each strive to be as obedient as possible to American constitutionalism in order to get closer to political perfection. It seems we should strive to live more closely to the principles of the Gospels for the perfect religious life. Will we? Or will we keep eschewing the beauty and perfection of orthodoxy in favor of progressive modernity, thereby going farther and farther from the known perfections inherent in the foundations of the institutions, while putting more and more stock in the imperfect people who inhabit them?

It sure seems that way, but I'm not sure all religions are corrupt, just misguided. Politics are based around lies, starting from all the false promises they make during their campaigns. The promises they make might work if they actually had as much power as they would like you to believe they have. All decisions have to go through so many channels before something actually happens. I think it all comes down to money, that's why I think it's so corrupt. It's supposed to be what's good for our country and the people who live here. It all works out in the end. This stuff has been going on since man set foot on this planet, and it will keep going on after you leave it.

As long as there is power to be had and the humans are involved there will be some level of corruption. And no where is there more power than Politics or Religion.

As a whole...NO. There are individuals that are greedy and corrupt...which does not make the group greedy or corrupt... but, many times they pay the price for the actions of a few

    Individuals are corrupt.

Because of the number of individuals in a religion or political system is always large; the opportunity for corruption is heightened when they merge. But always derived back to the individual. The only way to prevent corruption is to never have a system, and it doesn't take a genius to know we are much better off today because of those systems despite the corruption which has existed in politics and religion caused by the individual.

When an individual joins a group, he no longer thinks as an individual. Group think is the enemy.

That is an excuse used by the weak, the only time group mentality like that occurs is when the individual is peer pressured into having his free will removed. And peer pressure is always due to individuals.
