I'm assuming - w/o any particular basis for doing so - that you are referring to "Moderates on SH" not Moderates generally. In that context I think a majority of moderates are SHs who could describe themselves as liberals, conservatives, or progressives, but are too embarrassed by the shrillness of those also using the label they'd use that they retreat to something more neutral.

I would posit that most moderates are fiscally conservative and socially liberal. Unfortunately, those two sides currently represent the philosophies of two separate parties.

I am a registered Independent and I am a moderate - I believe in conservative fiscal matters and am to the left of center on some social issues. I think the far left and far right are all the same people - fanatics on single issues. I am not a liberal and I am not a conservative - only place left for me is in the center where other moderates are. No one side is right all the time or wrong all the time - silly to even begin to believe that notion.

Multiple raves. Absolutely. Freedom and liberty demand that people be allowed to be free to make their own choices on social issues. The economic health of the nation as a whole demands fiscal responsibility of government. Many of us believe this way, yet we are called names and put down.

Moderates are moderates. If they were liberals, they'd say so. Same goes for libertarians like myself. I can't stand how so many SodaHead conservatives think that everybody who's not a 100% conservative must be a liberal. That's like saying everyone who doesn't have brown eyes must have blue eyes, denying that green, gray, and hazel exist. I think it's a pitiful method of simplifying other people's arguments into something they can understand and attack...a straw man argument.

No. While there may be some Moderates who are actually Liberals, saying that most are is stretching it. One thing to consider is that many Moderates lean left in some cases and right in others. Some Moderates may lean left more often than not, but that doesn't make those Moderates Liberals, like if there's a Moderate who leans right more often than not, that doesn't make said Moderate a Conservative.

I believe that moderates are people who don't really know what to believe, they have no real convictions, morals or beliefs. If you stand in the middle of the road, you are going to get run over sooner or later!

Moderates are moderates to be distinguished from true and phony conservatives and Liberals/progressives. Few true liberals/progressives. Obama is clearly a moderate closer to Richard Nixon than to pinko commies.

I believe there's people who vote on the issues over a political party. Heck, on this site, I'd probably consider there to be more moderates who lean to the right than the left.
