Are Labor Unions still relevant in the USA?

One just needs to go to the enemies websites to understand where the unions want to take us, this info from the CPUSA is a glaring indictment of unions and the damage they have done and where they want to take us.
So when you hear how evil the corporations are you know where these tools are reading this.
We now have very strong labor laws for Corporations, we do not need unions anymore, they were created to this very end, read on....

"We, the working people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, need socialism, a system based on peoples needs, not on corporate greed. The Communist Party has a program to get us there."

http://www.cpusa.org/party-program/#3

"People need to begin to understand the connection between Communism, unions and the Democratic Party. The Communist Party USA website contains a document called "The Road to Socialism". In it they outline the reasons they believe America needs socialism/communism and the strategies they have employed to get us there.

"Unity between various unions, between unemployed and employed, between industrial and service workers, etc., will strengthen the labor movement and increase its ability to fight for bigger demands and victories. Only by uniting with workers in other countries can we successfully confront the transnational [corporations]." They believe it's the large coporations that stand in the way of Communism. So "successfully confronting" them is the path they believe will bring the utopian Communist state to America and the world.

You see, the labor movement really has nothing whatsoever to do with providing better working conditions for workers. But rather it's all about spreading socialism. And socialism to the Communist, is the next step in the path to Communism." JC

I agree. Unions have become irrelevant to most working people. Why? First, more leaders have moved from historical command-and-control models to more engaging strategies that encourage commitment and involvement. Leadership Engagement Surveys have shown improved trust in leadership and overall job satisfaction. Second, unions depend on a sizeable number of dissatisfied employees and a desire to want to stay in their current job. The new Y generation seems to have no patience for staying in a job they don’t enjoy. If the job isn’t working out for them, they’re ready to leave for another opportunity. Outside of government, the labor movement in America is barely alive.

Frightened people fight change. Public union members are frightened, and they’re fighting changes that could ultimately help them and the public they are called to serve.

Yes. As long as companies are allowed to organize into corporations, labor should be allowed to organize into unions. Labor is superior to capital because labor precedes capital.- Abe Lincoln (R-IL)

I was thinking that, just as some companies, banks, etc. are "too big to fail", requiring the tax payer to run to the rescue and guarantee continuation, unions in large enough groups to impact local, State, and national economies should not have the legal right to strike or stop work in any form. Arbitration should be mandatory, and any settlement should not be unduly inflationary.

The proof that Unions are no longer relevant is evident in the marked decline in Union households over the past 30 years. At this point, they seem to be kept afloat by politicians seeking campaign contributions for the next election cycle.

Are Labor Unions still relevant in the USA?
Absolutely NOT!!! They must be outlawed and banned in all states. All union properties and monies must be confiscated and used to pay down the national and state debts in which they now operate.

    collectivism

[From Latin colligere: to gather together.]

    1.

(politics) A doctrine in political philosophy (and sometimes ethics) holding that the individual's actions should benefit not the individual but some kind of collective organization (such as a tribe, community, profession, or state). Collectivism in political theory depends on altruism in ethics. There are many forms of collectivism in political reality, such as tribalism, communism, socialism, fascism, certain forms of trade unionism, authoritarianism, totalitarianism, and communalism. The term is most often associated with totalitarian governments of the twentieth century, but is uncommon in everyday language.

It's not the fact that Labor is less expensive in other countries, It's that labor is too expensive in this country. We also live in a highly "Recreational Society", we value amenities over necessities.

We brought it on ourselves, now live with it.

No. Labor unions pushed reforms that have been implemented. Now they are obsolete and are just trying to suck money out of memeber. My husband is a labor and employment law attorny. I can't tell you how many times he has spearheaded conditions that were in far beyond what the unions demanded but the unions put the unions quash on them because the request didn't come from them. Soooo, he had to go on record and say that he conceded to the unions requests in order to keep order. What a horrible, horrible joke on those who belong to unions.

MESSAGE: Employers want better/fair/legal conditions for their employees but it is the UNIONS who block the legal system. What a sickening situation.

    unions should be abolished

RCA manufactured picture tubes in Marion, Indiana employees caught cheating on their time card. go clock in at the beginning of their shift go back home then when it was time to clock out they would go back clock out . . . about 15 employees caught . . . they were fired then a year later the union brought them back . . . all with back pay ....

    true story . . .

perfect example why companies are moving over seas

A basic principle of unionism -- more power for the workers if they're united -- is valid. Unions may also provide protections for minority workers, I don't know (I've read it, but in a liberal rag, so who knows whether it's true or just more fakery).

I don't think most union MEMBERS are Communists or want Communism here; that may not be true of the leaders. The leaders are the ones who stand to lose power if unions are undercut, so of course they're ranting about how awful everything is.

However unions started, where they are now is more UNhelpful than helpful. They need to be cut down hard, not destroyed, but controlled. And not controlled with more rules and regulations that would take people and money to administer. Rather take away some of their power, a la Scott Walker, and refashion them going forward.
