No more than "people are evil." Each is an individual, and must be examined as such. Corporations can be very good and do good. Non-profits are corporations. They can also be used to shield people from liability and responsibility. They CAN be evil, and they should not be treated as persons under the law for a variety of reasons, but most particularly, because they are NOT.
The only corporations that are evil are the ones that try to manipulate the rights of people to obtain facilities of production. (use eminent domain laws to steal land in conjunction with local government) Really though if you think about it the problem is more with the politicians then the corporations because they are the ones that are supposed to protect our rights instead of trample all over them.
Most of them are ...for years they built themself up so far ...pull out all the funds ..and jobs are gone /....AT&T; ...Airlines ....now AIG ....GM ....and others look at history ...
Despite some who have tarnished the image of Corporate America...please bear in mind that these companies create many jobs, provide a big tax base for states and cities, and the Feds. They produce goods and services for the nation and some countries overseas. They are important for America....I know they are not perfect---neither is communism, but they are very necessary. And they do much better NOT being run by a socialist state, too!
in a way corporations are necessary. they provide jobs for those who need them. and as Dan said, "The most evil corporation is our current government!!!"
Corporations are nothing without people. Without people corporations don't exist. Like people, Corporations are not inheriently evil. They can go either way. It is all dependent on the choices people make. Corporations if they promote evil, then the people inside are the ones who decide to promote evil.
I dont think they're evil, but they're doing their best to make a profit, which while its great for the company itself, they can overlook some of the people that work for them, which is sad, but understandable
Corporations are not evil, but they operate only on a profit motive - what is good for the 'bottom line'. This is not what is always good for individuals or society.
MOST are "apolitical", and support profit at ANY cost, even cutting biz-deals with MARXIST or socialist nations to "make-money". It does happen when greed trumps patriotism and ethics.
I buy a building or a warehouse and i buy all the equipment that is needed for this business and i buy very expensive insurance and a lot of other incidentals. I pay for the mortgage if i don't own it out right, i pay for the electricity, water and trash removal..property taxes and taxes. You think i should pay employees more then they are worth? Plus health insurance? LOL...not a chance..an employee has a job, i own the business, i make the profits...Got it? A person is well aware of the pay before they take the job.
When you are making hundreds of millions in profit, you can afford to pay more for and treat your employees better. Think Wal-Mart. They have substandard pay and benefits and treat their employees like shit. I should know. I worked there for years. I was fired, they claimed it was because my position had been eliminated, but it was really because I had a child and was no longer available open to close 7 days a week.
Well i so disagree....just so you know, one doesn't have to pay above min wage..if they choose not to...and a person applying for the job doesn't have to take the job as they know what the pay is right? What should employees with a ged at best, supposed to make? And again, as i have many times on diff pools, say that Walmart creates jobs. They just created 2000 here in Fl. EVERYONE knows what they pay and if it is not enough, go somewhere else..Does K-Fart pay anymore? Substandard benefits? Did they know what the benefits were? Of course they did. It is ludicrous to think a business owner doesn't deserve to make big money...is it their fault they can do it and you can't? A contractor owns the business, he gets a contract for $10.000, he has 3 men to do the job, should he split the money 4 ways? LOL..of course not. Did you follow through to see if your job was really eliminated? Did you get a pink slip that says why you were fired? Maybe you can sue.
I tried, but they were crafty with the wording. And as I live in NH, they don't have to say anything, it is an employment at will state.
But, even though Wal Mart creates jobs, they also pay almost nothing for taxes. They sweet talk the towns into letting them skate on the taxes and municipal requirements. They deny work to disabled people, but they let them intern for nothing. My brother knows this first hand. I know that people have a choice in jobs. But it this economy, they are still raking in the profits, and it is on the uncompensated backs of their employees. They fired co workers of mine for actually working an hour of overtime. I watched Payroll punch me out because I was 10 minutes late one day. They are an evil corporation.
U.S. plans $30.1 billion financing for GM bankruptcy The Obama Administration expects to take General Motors into Chapter 11 bankruptcy Monday and quickly get the carmaker out with $30.1 billion in bankruptcy financing, the White House said in a statement tonight..........OBAMA IS EVIL
