of course they do . . . and i suspect they know it . . . hell, the catholic church only fairly recently apologized to galileo for setting science back hundreds of years.

they're anti-science (they won't have none o' that book larnin') and anti-art (gotta be able to tell what it is) and anti-education (wanting creationism taught in schools . . . and THAT'S the one that makes my head spin)

they try to live in a fairy tale world right smack dab in the middle of reality . . . it must be quite a chore.

I wouldnt say that the church nor any belief is holding back america, however those who do not wish to progress further are definately holding back america. I wouldn't go far as to say that christans are holding back america, but there are individuals who do not want change and don't care about others as long as they are happy which is disgusting. And unfourtunatly these individuals are often conservatives and christans.

Individuals are holding back America...the majority are doing what is right in their own eyes...if they think, say and do what feels good to them it leaves America fragmented...be it conservatives, liberals, Democrats or Republicans. Most are out for me and those with me.

Thanks for proving my point. The GOP always thinks they're right so they have no need to be open minded or tolerant.

You cant really say liberal idiots. I vote republican, but am much brighter than the "average" republican voter like your self. There was even a study done on those who vote liberal and conservative. They found liberals use the part of the brain that uses logic and critical thinking, while most; but not all, conservatives use emotions and ""gut feelings"....Now you tell me who sounds "stupid" Sincerely, the atheist republican!

hahahaha, yeah. Ill put it like this....I frequent facebook and other social media sites. I also frequent political activism pages on facebook. Many of them are Republican/Conservative based.
Like I said above, not all conservatives are "stupid". Not by a long shot. But here is something I like to do; It gives me a VERY good laugh. I look for the most "conservative" person on said page..In this case, I found you...Usually someone with a ridiculous comment: and usually on facebook. I go on that persons facebook profile and look under there "television likes" section of their page. 9 times out of 10, that "conservative has the TV show N.C.I.S under the favorites....Now this is why its hilarious to me....I watched 3 episodes of N.C.I.S and all 3 time have thought how can ANY competent person appreciate and take this show seriously? Obviously its one of the most popular shows in America...which has always baffled me, not really hahahahha...but for me, anyone who likes that show...is probably a "dumbass"..yes I said it!!! A bible-thumping, intolerant, ignorant, dumbass!!!! 9 times out of 10 is a pretty good figure wouldn't you say? I'm sure if Sodahead had a T.V interests section; Mark Harmon would be on your page in all his glory!!!!!

When Christians had taken control of Rome we had hundreds of years called the dark ages right afterwards. christians rome hundreds years dark ages christian and the dark ages
  • Mantic AndrewHull 2011/05/12 16:49:12

You need to study the actual history of that period. It's not so simplistic, and despite the rise of a wealthy elite, in a lot of ways the Renaissance set European culture back by centuries where the so-called "dark ages" had progressed.

Because America is supposed to be about freedom and the right wing is always trying to take that away from people.
