In the land of opportunity there isn't as much opportunity anymore. Many times a day a read about what we should do to the poor because they get government assistance. The poor should have to clean the streets or they should have to do what ever. Some people become poor who have college educations and lost their jobs or went into bankruptcy and is being denied a job for that reason or who knows what good reasons. You never know why someone has become poor. I remember years ago having to pay for food with food stamps how humiliating it was and how cruel people would be, laughing and giggling. Americans want to be perceived to the world as these people with a big heart but many times we fall short of this. People that pay high taxes that live in good neighborhoods are always the first to persecute the poor for that reason alone. The poor can not help that you pay high taxes they just know they are poor. Europe although in trouble is the most generous to the poor and yet they have the largest economy in the world. Our systems lineage is from the European model and system our judicial system and unions are all from Europe. The way we live is the closest to Europe from the language we speak and so on. Yet we shun the European system because it takes care of its peoples better. Why who knows, I guess everyone likes to feel they are right.
We need to promote economic rehabilitation through education which is a officiant affective and targeted approach that will promote recovery with out social humiliation.
The poor get very little from welfare, a family of four get a total of $900 per month for rent and food, enough to starve and live in a ghetto. The poor are miserable enough with out people screaming that they should be cleaning the streets. If you want them to clean the streets, pay them the money a street cleaner gets not a dime less.

If they don't measure up to Liberal standards, that says more about libs than anyone else. We ALL have our problems and challenges. Why should anyone get a free pass with all consequences of their choices magically removed? That's not only unrealistic, but it's counterproductive. It allows people to believe the LIE that they are owed a living. That has NEVER been true in natural OR human history.

Every single day, large numbers of American families get dumped out of the middle class and into poverty. According to the latest figures, extreme poverty in the United States is now at the highest level ever recorded. The number of good jobs continues to shrink and the poor are getting poorer. Things are really bad in America today, and unfortunately it looks like the economy is going to get a lot worse in the years ahead.
of wealth is not the answer.
And besides the economy wont get an better till say 3 4 years from now, so what are you going to do in that time given? whine and get poorer. or just find any job and try maintaining your socia status..
Being Middle Eastern that have seen what harm was done in Iraq and Palestine I may be bias honestly, so I am entirely against the war because well, no one benefited from anything, except those who were blinded by greed..
I have no education and at one time had no marketable skills other than being willing to do manual labor. In 40 years of working I have never been unemployed long enough to qualify for unemployment or any other program. In good economies or bad there is always opportunity. Opportunity doesn't come to your house, you have to get up early and search for it. Got a degree in finance or partical physics? Can't find a job doing that?
Then for god's sake do something else!
We would also be more understanding if the entire system wasn't riddled with corruption.
People see it every day, the people at grocery in front of you using that ole welfare card for everything but the beer and cigarretts and going to the parking lot and getting into a much nicer, newer vehicle than the worn out truck you are driving. Living in a upper middle class area, new homes and cars in every drive way, yet a large majority of the kids qualify for free meals at school while yours don't?
Shame on the government, users
