From subject like gay rights to arguing about if evolution should be taught in school .
To us foreign folk Americans seem pretty behind the curve when it comes to social issues .
Its funny because at the same time America seems far ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to racial issues .
Only western country to elect a black leader .
Yet when it comes to the environment ,stem cell research ,healthcare ,woman in the military ,birth control and almost every other social issue that most other western countries have dealt with and moved on America just seems so far behind .
Example Rick Santorum really seem to hate the practice of sex for the purpose of enjoyment . Sighting that sex should just be used for reproduction .
That just makes the rest of the modern world laugh .(just being honest ) .
This election has gone from economics to once again lame social issues that should not even be issues in a modern society .

My wife's mother is moving here from near Boston. She is doing so because she can no longer stand living among people who are as hyper-religious and as socially Third World as her neighbours. Imagine if she lived in the Bible Belt!

If you "don't give a crap" what other people think, you are exhibiting a disregard for their rights to their opinions, and therefore meet the lowest level of the criteria.
