Federal probation officers interviewed Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, a California filmmaker responsible for creating an anti-Islam film that sparked protests in more than 30 countries, late last night and released him.

Nakoula was questioned for about 90 minutes, and then was taken to an undisclosed location, where he was released, officials said.

"He is gone. We don't know where he went," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said. "He said he is not going back to his home."

Free speech is great but just like gun laws, people have taken advantage of it. You should no more be allowed to post a movie that causes the death of people than you should be able to buy automatic machine guns and have more fire power than our police force.

You should not be allowed to post false information on the web about people either. People need to be a little responsible for their own actions.

A victory for free speech? Yes, but not a victory for good judgment and common sense. Radical Muslims continue to prove repeatedly they are indoctrinated and lack cognitive ability.

Missing from any discussion is the fact that Christians are under attack by Islamists, especially in Egypt and Syria. Christian women and children are regularly abducted, molested and forced to convert; churches and monasteries are regularly attacked and burned; blasphemy laws imprison or kill, and calls for jizya are back. In short, Egypt and all the Middle East are places where Christians are persecuted and killed by this peace-loving religion of Islam.

Moreover, the ultimate goal of “freedom-loving Islamists" is the enforcement of the decidedly anti-freedom Sharia law, which will naturally spell disaster for Christians, since this draconian law code emphatically condemns non-Muslim “infidels” to dhimmi status — barely tolerated second-class “citizens” of the Islamic state. Yep, real "peace lovers," aren't they?

Free Speech took a hit when he was questioned; but at least he wasn't suppressed in any way.

    The Washington Post:

White House asked YouTube to review anti-Muslim film
Posted by David Nakamura on September 14, 2012 at 1:06 pm

The White House asked YouTube on Tuesday to review an anti-Muslim film posted to the site that has been blamed for igniting the violent protests this week in the Middle East.

Tommy Vietor, spokesman for the National Security Council, said the White House has “reached out to YouTube to call the video to their attention and ask them to review whether it violates their terms of use.”

However, the video remained on the site as of Friday afternoon, and it is posted many other places on the Internet.

Messages to YouTube, and Google, which owns the site, were not immediately returned Friday. On Wednesday, a YouTube spokesperson said the video “is clearly within our guidelines and so will stay on YouTube.”

The spokesperson added, however, that the site restricted access in Libya and Egypt because of the unrest. “We work hard to create a community everyone can enjoy and which also enables people to express different opinions. This can be a challenge because what’s OK in one country can be offensive elsewhere,” the spokesperson said.

The video, a trailer for what the promoters say is full-length film produced in the United States, has been cited as a cause for the some of the violent unrest in several Middle Eastern countries, including Egypt and Yemen. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Friday that investigators have no evidence that the protests were caused by anything other than the video.

“It is in response to a video, a film, that we have judged to be reprehensible and disgusting,” Carney said. “That in no way justifies any violent reaction to it, but this is not a case of protest directed at the United States writ large or at U.S. policy. This is in response to a video that is offensive and — to Muslims. Again, this is not in any way justifying violence. And we’ve spoken very clearly out against that and condemned it. And the president is making sure in his conversations with leaders around the region that they are committed, as hosts to diplomatic facilities, that — to protect both personnel and buildings and other facilities that are part of the U.S. representation in those countries.”

A victory for al Qaeda, and to those who will probably do more of this same stuff. Someone may do so this all again just to incite more violence or even a global conflict therefore making the ignorant American public demand a pullout from the Middle East (which a lot of people in the Mid East don't want). I believe Basseley Nakoula knew this was going to happen, but wanted to take advantage

Ignorance is always the fall of a great country/society. Look at what is happening; stupid congress is overreacting and almost cut off aid to Libya and Egypt (both allies of us).

What? He deployed drones to fly over Libya, and deployed warships off Libya's coast. If Romney was president he would bomb all of Libya and Egypt based on the actions of a few who are not connected to those governing those countries. We Dems are too busy trying to hunt down those who killed our people in Benghazi.

The Libyans don't hate America. Why don't they hate us? Because we helped overthrow their former dictator and never propped him up, but we propped up dictators in Yemen, Sudan, Egypt, Tunisia, Saudi, Pakistan, Syria, and elsewhere. So you wonder why some of the people hate us over there. We propped up the men who are responsible for ruining people's lives over there. You are the coward who can't admitt America's mistakes we have made in the Middle East.

Are you kidding me? You need to read my post again. America is making the biggest mistake of all...being there is the mistake. We should leave the Muslim area (except Israel) and cut off all aid and, whenever any crime is committed against America or Israel, we should nuke the whole damn bunch of the hateful Muslims. Read the Koran. Muslims ALL HATE AMERICANS! It is their job. By order of Allah. (Muhammad)

I'm for free speech, and as far as this film goes, I don't feel it was so much the cause of the problems that have been going on over in those countries, but an excuse to cause those problems in the first place. The anger, hate and wanting to destroy has already been there within the many radicals, all they need is an excuse. In the meantime, the ones that don't want it and are trying to live their lives the best they can, have to put up with all of it. The one thing I've noticed most about radicals is they don't question anything, they just believe what a book says and who wrote it...they are not using their mind God gave them. They themselves are getting killed and not questioning why and asking, is this the truth of what I've heard and read? Am I dieing for a good reason? Has all this fighting made me or my family any happier? I really wish they would start to ask questions and really look into things...they may just get some surprising answers.

I understand your concern but, according to the Koran, the Muslim holy book, ALL MUSLIMS ARE TERRORISTS! There is no place in the Koran that says to live in peace, side by side with Christians or anyone else. There are many places that say to kill all infidels. For a true Muslim to really want to just live in peace, the entire world would have to be Muslim. All Muslims, even your 'friends' are in eternal jihad against all others. Read it for yourself.

I know your right on that, but you know, they are Gods children too and I feel He would love to see them make some positive changes in order to feel what goodness and peace is all about. I realize that no one on this planet is perfect, we all have things about us that isn't always good, but that doesn't mean we cannot change. Those people are living their lives out in nothing more than hate and all hate does is make you more miserable. I wish they could see that, but I know what you're saying and I know their mindset is such they most likely will continue to fight, hate, want to take over everybody and everything and die doing it and never knowing what love is.

Doesn't have anything to do with free speech the information gathered at the interview will probably go before a judge to see if his probation should be pulled as he is a convicted felon and is on probation.
He was convicted of credit card fraud for three quarters of a million dollars and has been released on probation with about 25 restrictions including not to have access to a computer or the internet except with proper suppervision.
