    Wow those saintly knights in shining armor really didn't trust their fair ladies! I've never seen one of those before. They had to be uncomfortable! I guess there wouldn't have been any overeating at a banquet table. You couldn't just loosen your top button afterwards, or wear elastic.

    I think it would have been impossible to wear something like that continuously for months or years without dying of an infection.

    This articles seems to think it was a myth, and that such devices were invented after the Crusades, and used for torture and/or short-term wear (if you can call it that).

    I found it by googling, but I don't think they said how old it was.

    According to the link in my previous post, the earliest reliably dated chastity belt is from the 16th century.

    I did not know that. I honestly believed that they were real. I had never seen one before, and wondered how they worked.

    Actually that one looks like an old-timey pad holder way before your time..before they had the strips with the glue on the back of the pad.
