kevracer 2012/08/13 19:11:21

Besides being illegal and against the same constitution that gives you free speech, it's not a very good idea.

They will just find more weapons such as blunts or stabs and dealier ones such as explosives. And they can't stop homemade explosives from being made.

Bullets don't kill people either - it still took a person to pull the trigger... and sometimes the criminal uses a baseball bat, or knife. or his penis!

ridiculous idea... then only wealthy drug dealers would have them... and of course, politicians body guards.

It is TIME for the government to issue a hand gun and a box of bullets to every man and woman that wants one. AND provide government supported shooting ranges with ammo so those people can be well trained in the care, maintenance and operation of those handguns. AND so they can become effective and accurate and safe shooters.

It's comments like that that make people think you're not to bright. The violent people in this world kill people and they don't need bullets to do it. Why don't we devote our energy to ridding society of them so that people like me can have my bullets and guns and use them responsibly as I have for thirty years since I was 12 and got my first gun a bolt action .22 cal. Now I have many and thousands of rounds of ammo just in case some nut like you passes stupid laws.

That is a silly reactionary statement. Bullets don't kill people, people kill people. They did it before guns, and they will do it after guns too.

I suppose you also want a $1000 tax on knives right?

A guy in China recently committed mass murder with a knife: http://news.yahoo.com/chinese...

interesting- in your zeal to post, you likely failed to read this little gem:

"Violent crime has been on the rise in China in recent decades as the nation's economy has boomed and the gap between rich and poor has expanded at an alarming rate.

Experts say the increase in assaults shows that China is paying the price for focusing on more than 30 years of economic growth while ignoring problems linked to rapid social change."

    sound familiar?

Yes, but what does that have to do with anything? I understand that that is what is happening here...

If they do not have access to guns they will use something else. A knife can be used as a weapon.

Do you want to add a tax on knives as well?

    Don't mention it!

Lets face reality here....a $1000 tax per bullet is not happening, nor is the outlawing of firearms happening....its just that simple.

There are 290,000,000 legally owned firearms in the US....do you really think the owners of those firearms are going to pay $1000 for each bullet in taxes? Do you think they are going to surrender their property to the government?

It will not happen. The voting capability of firearms owners....spans all political spectrums....and they will vote.

    Your question simply is ludicrous.

if there are that many guns- why does the US need more? Why does the US need more ammo for that matter- there's certainly enough to last the public for several centuries

Bullets are already taxed, though you don't really know whereof you speak. Look up bullet.

$1,000 per bullet? All that does is make the killers learn how to makes their own reloads.

an 11% tax on bullets is clearly not sufficient.

all reloading equipment and supplies would be heavily taxed under my plan

point me to the words in the Constitution that guarantee you the right to own ammunition

the second amendment doesn't mention ammountion

Sure, but if you can't load your arms, then your arms are meaningless.
This makes the 2nd amendment meaningless.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. "

My proposal would not infringe the right to keep and bear arms, so it would be constitutional

no mention of use of those arms

If you wish to use your gun, purchase the ammo and pay a per round tax. Similarly, if you wish to use your car, you buy gasoline which carries with it a large amount of taxes

"...the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

    arms plural of arms (Noun)
    Noun:
    Weapons and ammunition; armaments:

I.e. ammunition is mentioned in the words above. From the Second Amendment in case you don't recognize them. A firearm without ammo is a club!
