The beach is a great place to go jogging, get a tan, take a dip, or just relax with a cool drink in hand. But now, thanks to an unplanned overseas arrival, the Siesta Key beach in Florida can add "checking out giant LEGO men" to its list of things to do. This 8-foot toy literally washed up on the beach overnight, and it's attracting attention from all over.

Oddly, this is not the first time something like this has happened. Three years ago, a similar LEGO man washed up on a beach at a resort in Zandvoort, Holland. Shortly after that, another one popped up in Brighton, England. Each of the figures sported the enigmatic phrase: "No Real Than You Are." The most recent LEGO man apparently has a number 8 on its back, as well.
Boing Boing pointed us toward EgoLeonard.nl, a website presumably based out of the Netherlands that is clearly related to these odd wash-ups. The page sports a picture of a LEGO man with the phrase "Hello! How Are You Doing Today," and the top of the page reads, "No real than you are."
The page's author writes (in Dutch, via Google Translate), "My name is Ego Leonard and according to you I come from the virtual world. A world which for me means happiness, togetherness, all green and flourishing, no rules or limitations ... Many new meetings in the virtual world have triggered my curiosity about your living environment. I am here because I thought your world and to discover and learn. Show me all the beautiful things that are happening in your world to admire. Be my friend and tell your stories, take me on a journey through beautiful meadows, words, sounds and gestures."
When you visit the site's Travel section (labeled "Op Reis"), you're presented with a handful of pictures of giant LEGO men washing up on shore and participating in various galas and festivals. Some of them have a "No Real Than You Are" shirts, some have other phrases. One of them has a distinct number 9 on its back. All are supposed to represent "Ego Leonard," but the website is not clear about who is behind the project or why.
