Angry With Economy, Youth Vote to Jump 50 Percent: Who Will Win the Angry Youth Vote?

The poor economy has created high unemployment for young Americans. A recent poll shows that these unemployed youths will turn into angry voters. One can assume angry voters generally vote for the challenger, not the incumbent. However, the poll didn't specify for which presidential candidate these angry, young voters will vote in November 2012. Generation Opportunity, a non-partisan youth advocacy group, conducted the poll.

July Unemployment
The most recent unemployment numbers from the U.S. Department of Labor tell the story of suffering for millions of Americans, as the unemployment rate inched up to 8.3 percent for the month of July. This is now the 42nd consecutive month with unemployment above 8 percent.
Some interesting stats: The youth unemployment rate for 18-29-year-old African-Americans is 22.3 percent (NSA), the youth unemployment rate for 18-29-year-old Hispanics is 14 percent (NSA) and the youth unemployment rate for 18-29-year-old women is 12.6 percent (NSA).

Which presidential candidate will win the youth vote in 2012: Barack Obama or Mitt Romney? Does the youth want to give Obama four more years to fix the economy? Or are they more likely to vote in someone else, like Mitt Romney?

WASHINGTONEXAMINER.COM reports:
Younger voters, angry with the lack of jobs and a stalled economy that's cut their entertainment budget and forced many to live with mom and dad, are expected to flock to the polls in even greater numbers than 2008 when President Obama's inspirational message of hope and change drew millions to the polls.

Although some anger will go towards the ruling party for the lack of jobs, younger voters have always voted more to the left, putting them in Obama's corner rather than Romney's.

However, with all the sniping and petty attacks going on by both sides, I'd expect a lot of 'protest votes' too - votes for third parties in an effort to send a message to the two main parties that they are dissatisfied with both choices.

polls have shown that Dems tend to lead in the youth vote, and many of Romney's fellow GOP members have pushed for voter suppression laws that would greatly inconvenience many in that group.

Actually, they won't vote for either. Most will vote for Gary Johnson or write in Ron Paul. The youth are waking up in this nation, and not buying into the lies being handed down by the two party joke. Neither Romney or Obama plan to build anything but their power and bank accounts. Jobs is not going to be a priority, nor is it actually the job of the POTUS to do so.
If people would wake up and realize that the real power is with the Federal Reserve, and Congress taxing companies out of this country, a revolution would soon follow. Ron Paul has created a movement in this nation with his strong liberty and freedom message. It is not likely to die out anytime soon.

    Great response! I agree 100%.

The youth will not vote for Obomney. There will be a huge split instead among Ron Paul, Gary Johnson and Virgil Goode. However the results will be rigged as they always are in Presidential elections. Virgil Goode Ron Paul Gary Johnson

Those of the young who have jobs will half-heartedly support Obama, but his vote percentage will be way down among them and many will not go to the polls. Many of the unemployed youth will go to the polls and most of them will vote for Romney, except the black unemployed who will make their usual mistake of always voting against their rational self-interest. Obama will win the overall youth vote, but not by much. He will win the black vote by a large percent, but not as high a % as in 2008 and black voters will turn out in lower numbers. He may squeak out a slender win among Hispanics, but it will be way down from 2008. Obama will also win single women, but again at a reduced rate compared to 2008. The overall white vote will be much, much better for Romney than it was for McCain and the vote of the elderly for Romney will be much increased. White women will vote for Romney, not for Obama as they did in 2008. Obama's votes from Catholics and Jewish people will be down also. Obama is on his way out.

I have four grandchildren: boy 23, boy 21, boy 19 and girl 18. Politics have never been discussed in their home and they haven't been propagandized in any way. I took lists from online that assess your politics after answering a bank of questions and thankfully, all four are solidly Conservatives.

All four are registered and will be voting November 6 and I feel responsible for making sure they were registered and bringing four more votes to the table!!

alas again I can't watch the vids, but what I have seen of his voting track record worries me, as well as his stance on abortion and the Supreme Court rulings on it and segregation. I'll try looking into it more again though! I like the idea in theory, I've seen a few too many using it as an excuse to knock out the laws that do allow for greater freedoms for the majority in practice to fully sign up for the party line. Not saying I think everyone in the party is like that, or even most! It's just a reason I avoid political labels. I vote where I think it will do the most good, not along any party lines
  • Defendn... TheFigh... 2012/08/28 22:33:23

I disagree with him on abortion too. His point against certain laws trying to make racism punishable is not because he's for racism, but because he has a very principled stance on liberty. Indeed certain anti racist laws infringe your freedom of speech, your freedom of assembly and your freedom to hire who you want.

'I vote where I think it will do the most good, not along any party lines'
    Great!

Which laws? Most of the laws that come to mind help combat the cultural ideas that have come about as a result of years of legislated discrimination. And even those are not doing as much as they could. Like with the freedom of speech, you can say whatever you want in general, but persistent verbal attacking of a person isn't okay. How is the freedom of assembly impeded on? I know of some laws that have specific restrictions, but those were more a result of the Westbro Baptist Church and their picketing of funerals. (Which they can still do, just some places have laws in effect saying that they can't and hour before or after the actual time of the funeral as to respect the families who are in a very vulnerable position after losing a loved one.) I don't see many openly racist people getting a lot of applications from people of color ;P But saying that they did, they the person doing the hiring has obviously shown a tendency to unfairly and unjustly favor certain people based not on what they can do but the color of their skin.

    Thank you? lol :)

They are more interested in Spending until you have to totaly depend on the government for everything, but when that happens you will loose every freedom that you have and enjoy.

Obama's "agenda" for a 2nd term as President of the United States of America
    is EXTREMELY EXTREME:

    • The re-creation of a 21st-century version of FDR's Works Progress Administration program within the Department of Labor that would oversee a massive new bureaucracy and millions of new federal jobs;

    • An additional government-funded jobs program that provides "good jobs" capable of supporting a family with a "decent standard of living."

    • A new government mandate to force businesses to provide twelve weeks of paid benefits to employees who need time off to care for a new child, a sick family member, or their own illness. Plus, a higher, required minimum wage that would raise the floor for all employees.

    • An expansive, de facto amnesty program for illegal aliens via both executive order and inter-agency directives linked with a reduction in the capabilities of the U.S. Border Patrol.

    • Plans to bring in untold numbers of new immigrants with the removal of caps on H-1B visas and green cards. Immigration control to be placed in a NEW Executive Branch agency and taken away from CONGRESSIONAL CONTROL.

    • Government-funded, neighborhood-based programs to better integrate the newly amnestied immigrants into society, including education centers and health care centers. A "federal solution" to ensure that the amnestied immigrants are treated "equitably" across the United States.

"The (Mr. Obama's) amnesty plan would make it illegal to apprehend "undocumented" persons in the "premises or in the immediate vicinity of a childcare provider; a school; a legal-service provider; a federal court or state court proceeding; an administrative proceeding; a funeral home; a cemetery; a college, university, or community services agency; a social service agency; a hospital or emergency care center; a health care clinic; a place of worship; a day care center; a head start center; a school bus stop; a recreation center; a mental health facility; and a community center.""

    • A National Infrastructure Bank that would evaluate and finance infrastructure projects of substantial regional and national importance" and would finance "transportation infrastructure, housing, energy, telecommunications, drinking water, waste-water, and other infrastructures."

    • The wresting of control of the military budget from Congress by placing an "independent panel" in charge of military spending while slashing the defense budget.

    • Spreading the vastly reduced resources of the U.S. Armed Forces even thinner by using them to combat "global warming," fight global poverty, remedy "injustice," bolster the United Nations and step up use of "peacekeeping" deployments.

    • A new "green" stimulus program and the founding of a federal "green" bank or "Energy Independence Trust," which would borrow from the federal treasury to provide low-cost financing to private-sector investments in "clean energy.

    • A "green Manufacturing" revolving loan fund to create 680,000 manufacturing jobs and 1,972,000 additional jobs over five years.

    • Detailed plans to enact single-payer health care legislation controlled by the federal government.

Total cost for the above Obama 2nd term initiatives are estimated @ $ 2,000,000,000,000 (and climbing). Of course, the cost is going to be on the backs of the American taxpayers for re-distribution into these programs.

    So, WHO IS EXTREME ????

Vote for Mr. Obama and you will be voting for the complete and total destruction of America.
