If you have never had a good Dog, consider yourself deprived.

Actually God made dogs PRIOR to man. Sometimes I believe He was better off stopping there.

"Who domesticated the wolf and developed the dog? Man did, DUH!"

Thanks. You just proved the meaning of "duh." Think about it.

I think you mistook the meaning of my first post to you.
Man developed the Dog from the Wolf, so "no dog predates man".
    Duh-mass!

Modern dogs evolved from a line of carnivorous mammals called "canids," after the characteristic shape of their teeth. Before (and alongside) the canids, though, there were such diverse families of predators as amphicyonids (the "bear dogs," typified by Amphicyon, which seem to have been more closely related to bears than dogs), prehistoric hyenas (Ictitherium was the first of this group to live on the ground rather than in trees), and the "marsupial dogs" of South America and Australia. Although vaguely dog-like in appearance and behavior, these predators weren't directly ancestral to modern canines.

So, you are right ONLY if you insist on bickering about the use of the word "dog." But then by that same token, I am just as right.

I have stated he is arguing semantics and nothing more. Talk to Bureaucrat (aka Mr. *) about arguing. I believe my initial response was respectful as much as it was heartfelt.

Read actual responses prior to accusations, Salt.

Hope she remains healthy and active for a long time to come. They become so thoroughly a part of our families, the relatively short life of a dog is a cruel joke played on man.

I've some pretty awesome cats but a cat will NEVER put themselves at risk for the benefit of their owner.

One of my best friends lives in Florida and he has two Pyres, he just keeps them sheared. You're very welcome, I love showing my babies off. Athena just happens to be my favorite. (-:

AWE...my best guess would be the little guy with the red shirt on! The obviousl dog lover of the three, lol.

Great Pyres are water dogs, they have webbed paws and a second eyelid. They are excellent swimmers and love the water! I'd give the grandkids a pair of dog clippers and let them shear your Great Pyre, if you ever get one. :-D

She has Such sweet caring eyes.
My neighbor has one. Very sweet also, although many people are intimidated by his size.

Me too. The basset hound was a throw-away, believe it or not. I have had her around four years...she was running around staving to death near a rental property. You could see every bone in her head! I took her and she is now living happily with me. Ty belonged to my best friend Randy. He died last June and I kept him with me.....he's just like Randy.
