An Open Letter to Dr. Ron Paul

KCurtis 2012/06/11 23:53:12
Dear Dr. Paul,
I am just a mother and a grandmother who so loves this country and the concept of freedom that stands faithfully behind our lovely United States Constitution. While I respect your views, I also see that you have collected a vast and deep following of people over the course of your admirable career. But, I must ask you now to consider the path you have chosen and the priorities of it. I must ask that you define for those followers, what is the best path for the greater good of us, the American people. I have been involved in politics at a local level since the 1970’s. I have served on a public level, but rarely delved into the national level until 2008. Today with little experience, I run a PAC, a political action committee under the blanket of the independent grass roots movement of the Tea Party. I’ve been an independent voter for over 42 years over 10 election cycles voting for both Democrats and Republicans who hold a fiscal and Constitutional conservative ideology. Now I realize something critical to both the path and direction of this great country, I must chose a side that stands clearly against the progressive movement toward a foundation that squarely stands on the opposite side of Socialism, Marxism, Fascism and eventually Communism, and that stance falls on the Republican Party. While a presidency held by Governor Romney is not as conservative as I like, I recognize for the good of all of the US people; Mr. Romney is the only opportunity we have to continue to live under the Constitution I swore a pledge of allegiance to for the better part of my entire life. So I ask you, plain and simple, transparent, from the bottom of my heart to do the same. The people who follow you have clearly stood for the Constitution, but unfortunately they also blindly follow your direction and some are willing to follow that dedication to the end of the freedom. They as well as all Americans need your direction now. They need to be told you are no longer seeking the office of the President of the United States and they need to be given your choice of endorsement. Without this, all of what you have stood for will soon fall to the ashes of the end of this great nation, the end of a free people. Ronald Regan once said freedom was the last stand in the United States and here we are, at the end of the road. Those of us who never stood with either party now realize that another 4 years of a leftist, progressive presidency will end all that we have stood for, for the last 240 years. It’s time Dr. Paul, it’s time for you, like I, to make your choice.

You have no possible way to win your honorable fight. You have given your all and those on either side have lost, but we as Americans have lost the most. While I understand your attempts and respect your positions now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country; this includes you Dr. Paul. We need to be united so that we will live to vote another day. I urge you to come forward, admit your campaign is over and make an endorsement so that those people who blindly follow can make their choice. And if you have any bit of concern over the future of the US Constitution I ask that you give us a start to turn the paradigm back, to move the road toward a better, more conservative America and endorse Mitt Romney. While he is not the most conservative person to guide this nation through the extremely hard times, he is the most conservative candidate who can win and stop the liberal progressive regression of this country and move forward with the founding principles that we have always, and will hopefully always stand for.

Very best regards,

KCurtis, National Chairwoman
Tea Party PAC of USA

Great letter. As evidenced by some of the responses here from the left and from some of the Ron Paul supporters, Paul needs to show some leadership for the sake of the country.

All voting for Romney does is slow the heating of the frogs in the pot. White people like the Founders "ourselves and our posterity" are the frogs.

    Dear Dr. Paul,

Romney wouldn't know Liberty if the statue fell on his bloated global wallet.

    Keep on keeping on.

    Thanks,

Very well said. When the campaigning started an acquaintance of mine and I used to get into heated discussions about our choices for president. Mine was Herman Cain and hers Ron Paul. One of the things we did agree on was Obama is destructive to this country and that he must go. At that time I stated to her that there were a good chance that neither of our choices would be the Republican pick and asked if in that case would she be backing whomever is the nominee because they have to at least be a step in the right direction. She left the question open without an answer. Not too ago I saw her and about a dozen Paul supporters carrying signs so I parked and wished to talk to her. This time I was able to ask the question more directly as it was all but a official that Romney was the nominee. From all of the dozen or so people I was surprised that it was a vote for Paul or they were not voting at all. I have heard this from Paul supporters on talk radio and seen it on blogs. This seems to be the prevailing attitude of his supporters. I like you would hope that Paul will urge them not to stay this course. To take the better of the two and to make sure that Obama does not get another four years. There is not doubt in my mind they would live to regret doing anything other.

They are lemmings whether they realize it or not. NOT supporting Romney or NOT voting is the same as voting FOR obammbam.

They just are not grasping it.

That was VERY nice Kim. And appropriate. I know Mr Paul hates to give it up, but there is no way he can win. He hasn't even taken one State, I don't believe. And he needs to step down now and put his support behind Mr Romney. United we stand, Divided, we FALL!!!

He's not endorsing Mitt Romney because he's a man of principle. But even if he did, it would be of little effect. Those of us that support RP have principles of our own. And most of if not all won't compromise those principles for a three piece suit.

Those who will obviously don't realize the true dangers of Progressivism. And Mitt Romney is a self-described Progressive.

It would feel better if we were able to send a message to party elites. But they are tone-deaf to anti-statist and conservative elements of the party. I voted 3rd party last year knowing full well McCain would carry TX regardless. I wanted to send a message. It came back, "return to sender... address unknown." It is a real dilemma for those whose principle concern is overbearing government. It is the equivalent of asking a pro-life person to vote for an abortionist. But the cards are dealt. All we can do, if anything, is ensure we get as many freedom loving, anti-statists into Congress as possible and encourage them to hold Romney's feet to the fire.

They will feel as good as they did the last 3 elections that I voted that way. My guy did not win but I knew I voted for the best person and I dealt with the consequences.

Come to think of it, I have only voted for the winning Presidential candidate once (George Bush in 1998) and one time for Maryland governor (Bob Ehrlich in 2002) and beyond that, living in a DemoCRAP state, I have been on the losing side all other times.

Voting FOR someone, as opposed to voting AGAINST someone is so refreshing. Plus, I get to sleep at night knowing that I am not part of the problem.

    Sorry Beave.....

if your vote, as integrity and principle laden as it might be, ENABLES the current resident of the White House to stay resident, that integrity and principle doesn't amount for much.

by enabling his return by not voting for his majority opponent, means that you might as well vote for the current resident.

    its a difference without distinction.

you feel good about yourself, and yet we're all still under the yoke of this idiot.

nuh uh. Obama's hope and change smokescreen was for a guy that no track record.

    Romney's, in comparison is stellar.

you can't believe what Obama is putting out as campaign baloney.

in 2002, MA, who's reliance on the dot com boom was legendary, suffered during the dot com bust under his governorship. Obama, of course, would never say that.

balancing a budget is something he did every year he served. i'd love to see him do that nationally.

you KNOW we won't ever see it from Obama or any democrat...

Obama is gaming you. worse. you believe him.

Obama had no track record? That's a farce. He did. People just ignored it, and what he voted for as a senator. Just like how everyone ignores what Romney did as a governor.

Balancing the budget is nothing to brag about when your pet projects like Romneycare ran off of federal funding.

Some of that money going to fund abortions with a $50 co-pay.

i meant a track record of ideas performance AND success.

what Obama is portraying as failure is just political theater. i hope at some point Romney doesn't let it stand.

if you believe Obama's BS about Romney, you're being had.

he balanced it well before Romneycare kicked in. the budget impact of Romneycare fell on his successor.

MA is about as blue as you can get. i'm surprised they don't take republicans out and shoot them.

i have the honor of heading out to Nantucket Island on a fairly regular basis. i was waiting for a taxi a couple weeks ago and an newspaper truck pulled up to dropoff some papers. it had a bumper sticker that said 'my dog eats democrats'. i laughed and the guy asked me if i had problem with it. he smiled when i said 'no. i want one for myself...'

its called mathematical modelling. it starts out AS a logic question, then you get to plug numbers into it.

if you assume incumbency offers a starting gate advantage, you need to calculate how many votes a challenger needs to catch and overtake the incumbent.

for you guys, its a much simpler question: you are like a small child choosing a candy bar from behind a window. if you want a kit kat bar, but get a baby ruth, well, everything is OK.
