This man is a total fool! He bypasses the rules of Congress and the U.S. CONSTITUTION at the drop of a hat for everything and gets away with it! He should be prosecuted/impeached!

This will only bring down the economy. They come to America and send the money they drain from us back to their own country. It doesn't do us any good and only brings us down as a nation.

It is not Amnesty as it is not a long term solution. Amnesty has been granted to people by past presidents and this is by no means the same thing. He is granting a 2 year deferral to allow people who came here as children to come out of the shadows and contribute to our society and economy.
Either way, these people will be here, but this will make it so these people can work legally, pay taxes, and move around more freely without fear of deportation. Now, you may ask how this will help our economy? These people will be able to shop in stores where in the past they may have been afraid to do so. It will take away the fear, allowing them to take trips and spend their hard earned money in American businesses, therefore contributing to the American economy.

If this 2 year deferral does not take place, these people will still be here (if it was so easy to deport the many illegal immigrants, it would have already happened) but they will stay in hiding, working only to survive and not contributing as much to our economy as they could.

I understand giving the children a chance, but not the parents. Someone needs to be held responsible.
  • Laura JesusIs... 2012/06/19 23:53:58

I dont think anyone has said the parents specifically have a chance? However, I think they should focus their energy on securing the borders and deporting those who pose a true threat to America, not the parents who came here to provide a better life for their families. But that is just my opinion. :-)

This is totally political! What really annoys me about this President is that if he can't get the Congress to do as he wants, he attempts to make his own laws. I also suspect that he feared that Rubio, et al, might come up with a passable plan and he couldn't afford to have Republicans beat him on this issue.

President Obama's deportation policy has been the strictest we've ever seen. It won him a lot of political points but created a lot of human suffering. Make no mistake, he's going to continue to deport more adults than any other president. He's just going to give amnesty to children, teens, and young adults who have known no other country but this one all of their lives and were brought here illegally by parents or grandparents. That's a little bit of mercy, but only a little bit.

Actually, it was shown that Obama has deported nearly as many immigrants in the past four years as Bush did in both his terms. He has been very hard on immigrants and has ripped many families apart which I am sure has made you very happy.

Somewhere in Kenya, there's a grass hut waiting for Obama. I just hope it's downwind of the outhouse and everyone in the village has diarrhea on the same day.
