As an artist of varied talents, I enjoy coloring with my grandson, showing him all the nuances of combining colors, smearing colors for affect and using color to create vibrant baby masterpieces.

Not really, but I think it is interesting to try to make a judgment whether he was a historic person or simply a myth. I lean toward myth, but I keep an open mind about it.
Now, I must know EXACTLY how you keep an open mind about it.

In your first statement you are confident and sure. However, by the time you close, you admit that since you can't prove the myth or truly KNOW the answer, you recognize that you could be wrong.
First I want to sincerely congratulate you for sharing that truth with me and anyone else who reads this post.
It WAS brave of you to admit that and I feel an obligation to tell you that He still knows who YOU are even though you haven't met HIM yet.
Even though you have felt He was/is a myth, He has continued to care, love, protect, provide, and forgive your transgressions, never once forcing Himself upon you. For He is a gentleman AND has given you free will, you have been given freedom of choice.

Like most Americans I grew up in a Christian household, my parents were Catholics and that was my early upbringing. Even as a young child the Catholic religion never seemed "right" to me and I switched to my Maternal Grandmother's religion. She was a Protestant and a member of the Congregational church. There was no family drama involved in this switch incidentally. The new church seemed a bit more "right" to me and certainly a more pleasant experience. But eventually I had a hard time believing the underlying Christian dogma. I'm not sure I ever really believed any of it but by 13 or 14, I definitely did not believe it.
There is virtually no chance that I could ever accept Christianity. To me, the idea of the existence of Satan is at the same level as the existence of vampires and werewolves.
It is certainly possible to live a good life without the Christian God or any of the other trappings. "The Little Book of Atheist Spirituality" by Andre Comte-Sponville is a very close approximation of my beliefs and attitudes.

Since the island that I now live on probably has more Buddhists than Christians and probably more Hongwanjis than churches I have spent some time with the Buddhist "religion" (technically it probably doesn't constitute a religion) since they do not believe in a deity they have more credibility. I have retained much of the Buddhist philosophy but attending the Hongwanji seems like mostly a waste of my time. On a related but separate note, the idea of the Tao is extremely(not part of Buddhism) interesting and far more sophisticated than most religion's idea of God and God-man. I currently read Taoist writings.
I do appreciate your thoughts and wishes, but I don't think you have to worry about me, I'm in a very good place.
On the question of this thread, I find it very frustrating that people can believe such nonsense. I think that Obama has done serious damage to this country and I try to do whatever I can to see that he is not reelected. So when I see those who label themselves as conservative who spend their time on nonsensical conspiracy theories like the birthers, truthers and NWOers to name the most prominent and craziest, it depresses me. Unfortunately they never see the light, even though they cannot begin to defend their beliefs they just sort of put their head in the sand and insist that it's true....or send some ridiculous picture as their argument.
Sometimes stupidity is so extreme that you could call it awesome.
