Americans Say They’re Better Off Since Obama Took Office - Do you believe this Bloomberg poll?

Forty-five percent of those surveyed in a Bloomberg National Poll say they are better off than at the beginning of 2009 compared with 36 percent who say they are worse off. In March, poll respondents split almost evenly on that question after having been decidedly negative since the aftermath of the worst recession in seven decades.

“I’m just tired of the doom and gloom,” says Jim Seeley, 52, a mortgage banker in Traverse City, Michigan, and a poll respondent, in a follow-up interview. “I think it’s looking better. People just need to stay positive.”

The poll, conducted June 15-18, contains more unlikely cheer for the president, with larger numbers of respondents saying their household income is higher than a year ago. While 44 percent say they are treading water, the better off outnumbered the worse off by 28 percent to 22 percent.

Even if Americans believe they are better off, how much of that is a result of unsustainable borrowing by the government to boost spending. We borrow nearly half of every dollar spent. Whether things are better or worse now, just imagine when nobody is willing to lend anymore to the government and the ca ca hits the fan! :(

Not so much in New Jersey. Governor Christie had forfieted a $400 Million federal education grant that many others had worked very hard to get. Those funds could have saved the jobs of many teachers here.

Was just him fault: have been decline for long time; and if the wars did some wealth to the Bilderbergers family, not for the citizens of America, and continue degraded which are part of evolutions.

Of course I believe it. Just imagine how many people are better off now that they have tarp money running out of their pockets, now that half America is on the welfare rolls while working the streets, that seedy street gangs get government money, that ACORN still gets taxpayer money.

Do I believe most Americans are better off? OF COURSE NOT!

We just spent $66.00 yesterday on groceries that bought no meat, no vegetables, no fruits, just 1/2 gallon orange juice, 6 bialys, a dozen of eggs, 2 gallon of milk, 2 boxes of spaghetti, a few odds and ends for household use. Nothing fancy. $66.00 used to buy as 3 times as much with meat, and other fresh produces. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. I don't care what survey's results say, our dollars buy less and less and this is the plain truth. We are not in a better place today than in 2009.

In some stores prices more than doubled. In most they are about twice as high as they used to be 3.5 years ago. It is obvious that by raising prices on everything by implementing his disastrous energy policies and unleashing EPA against farmers, obama effectively gave a working people and retired ones about 50% pay cut. So much for him being for the little guy.

Yep, when you have an energy policy that doubles the price of gasoline, expect the price of everything being trucked to go up. Of course the inflation rate doesn't show this because the administration took gas and food out of the equation.

but with obomma give away entitlements left and right ,, growing gov't by 30 % , those are the only ones that are better off,,, more gov't employees draining the very life out of the economy ,, the welfare queens sucking the blood out of us 53 % that pay taxes..

damn, some people are way better off,, obomma gave them free cell phones... damn

Working people are much worse of as well. Look at the effective pay cut for the working class by rising the prices on essential goods. And the unemployment keeps going up. They play tricks with statistics to make it apopear lower than it actually is. In the certain age group it is about 20% nothing to brag about. Compare that to the unemployment of less than 5% under President Bush and one may wish for him to be back.

The facts stand as they are:

Our national debt has risen by more than $5 trillion during Obama’s administration, more than what it increased under all previous 43 presidents combined.

The number of Americans on food stamps has risen from 32 million to over 46.4 million in Obama’s three years in office.

At $3.59, the average price of gasoline is $ 1.74 MORE than it was the day Barack Obama was sworn in.

Twenty two percent of American children live in poverty, the highest level in 30 years.

For forty straight months (every single full month of Obama’s reign), unemployment has been 8%.

Forty two percent of American workers are living paycheck-to-paycheck.

Fifty three percent of college graduates under 25 are either unemployed or under-employed.

Let the Obama lovers continue to delude themselves. Numbers don't lie.

Personally, I'm way better off. The private savings we had in our retirement portfolio is returning and we thought it was lost forever, our son returned the day before Christmas from Iraq, we have a better return from our income taxes, our nephew is back in school and we got a great low-interest loan to do some major updating on our 35 year old home.

I shudder to think what will happen if Willard prevails. Back to the same failed policies and having a President who could give a fig less for anyone who isn't super rich or a Baron on Wall Street.

Yes. The stock market has rebounded. The jobless rate is going down as businesses start to hire again. We are pulling out of Iraq and will soon pull out of Afghanistan. People are feeling better about the economy. I think the rest of the world look at Obama with much greater respect than they did with George W. Bush.

Then there is another way at looking at it. If you compare leaders like Hoover & FDR, there is no comparison to leading a country out of a fiscal mess. Something the Dems have had to do throughout history when following a republican. Go figure.
