Americans are creating green energy jobs: IN AFRICA, LOL!!

BlueRepublican 2012/07/24 22:53:58

U.S. Pledges $20 Million, and Counting, for African “Clean Energy” Projects

I guess they need the money and jobs much more than we do here. Remember folks, it's a GLOBAL economy. TRICKLE UP ECONOMICS.

As a wealthy nation, Americans MUST send their taxpayer money to poor countries to build jobs, fight poverty, build schools, build hospitals, fix roads, and build bridges. By doing so, the wealth of those countries will EVENTUALLY trickle back to you.

Americans have been sending their tax money overseas for so long, that some countries depend on it. It's the only way they can keep taxes low for their citizens and provide them with low-cost healthcare and social programs.

Our military bases on their lands provide all the security they need. They don't have to spend 25% of their annual budget on defense. It's not their soldiers getting killed so, why Not have American soldiers protecting their borders?

So whenever you wonder why we re-distribute so much of the American taxpayer wealth overseas, just remember, IT WILL EVENTUALLY TRICKLE BACK TO YOU.

A woman my sister knows told her that there is very little U.S. money in most African countries for students loans -- but there's PLENTY from Russia and China.

Training more Communsts or making friends for Democracy. I know what I choose.

Maybe the MONEY won't "trickle back" -- but the people might not trickle away either.

Did he actually say our military bases provide the security THEY need? Can he be that naive?

When you wonder why things are so screwed up remember how petty and self absorbed this country has become.

He didn't say it, but it is well known that many of our military bases are on 'hotspots' around the world, as well as allies, providing stability and security for those countries.

Don't forget about the half a billion in money Bush gave to an electric Finnish car company that created hundreds of jobs in Finland through the Energy Department program, which predates the Obama administration. It was not part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, also known as the stimulus. In fact, it’s a program signed into existence by President George W. Bush in 2007 and first funded by legislation Bush signed in 2008.

    https://lpo.energy.gov/wp-con...

The Bush administration was in charge when the company filed its application. The Obama administration was in charge when the company’s loan was approved. The stimulus bill had nothing to do with it.

There is nothing accurate in this claim. The federal loan guarantees the company received were not part of the stimulus, and there is no evidence that any government dollars paid for work done by African workers.

Calm down nugget. I am not a Bush/partisan crony. I have blasted his administration for the spending, expansion of govt and unconstitutional mandates/laws.
The aim of the post is to make Americans think. We have 16+ Trillion natl debt, we have 3 years straight 1+ Trillion budget deficits, lowered credit rating, multiple increases in debt limit borrowing, double-digit inflation, increased gas/food/energy costs, etc...
What I am saying is that, NOW is not the right time to throw money at side projects. I want energy alternatives too, but there are more pressing issues at this time.

I am calm. Do I look annoyed or irritated?

apparently, we don't have other pressing issues at the time if we are wasting our time complaining about $20 million dollars that especially can benefit the US economy thru expanded business. the governments spends $20 million just about every 3 minutes. But How much money are spending on military again? 50 percent of federal spending is for military.

    this is simple macroeconomics.

one country's economy can affects another. The US, which accounts for a quarter of world GDP, DOES affect the rest of the world. The same goes for the EU. the EU is actually a bit larger than the US. Together you are talking about HALF of world GDP. If One African country struggles, the others have to give them help before it drags down their economy. so The U.S.'s economy gets a boost when a third- world country is more secure because it opens up new markets for more US products and services. With the world economy changing into one entity more and more we will probably see more countries combining currencies. We are all going to be in this together whether we like it or not.

Military/Defense only make up about 25% of our annual budget. That 50% figure is made up of SS, Mcare & Mcaid. I understand how foreign aid is a tool of foreign policy and how it can impact our economy. I am not against helping others, but we have a lot of folks hurting right now. Folks unemployed, fixed income seniors feeling the squeeze. I'd like to see that money used here first.

"Military/Defense only make up about 25% of our annual budget."

You are saying 25 percent like it's nothing. I meant to say More than 50 percent of federal income taxes are used for military spending. We are wasting our tax dollars on defense. How many jobs has the defense sector created ever since 9/11?

"...but we have a lot of folks hurting right now."

you are one narrow-minded individual. your track-minded is disgusting. is it too complicated for us to do BOTH (help Americans and people from third-worlds)? There is no either-or option. Governments can and should address both economic issues and social problems.

Blue, with all due respect people can always make an excuse for "not" doing something. Remember WWII when we didn't get involved until we were hit by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor. It took desperation to get us moving. Now is the time because the longer we wait the more expensive it will be later on and the farther behind the Chinese we will become and that is dangerous.. Procrastination is not a good thing.

We'll never be debt free to China when they deveolpe and sell their technology and products to other countries (export) that we could have but didn't because we let them get ahead of us. So now we are forced to buy their products and watch our past costumers mainly Europe, Asia and South America buy high technology form our chief competitor. We are standing still and they are moving forward. You can't win a NASCAR race while your car sits on pit row the whole race, that's what we're trying to do and we will fail, heck we are failing already. We see Europe with their austerity plan slip back into a double dip recession and now that's hurting us as they are our number one trading partner. We must move forward or we'll be left behind.

As a progressive I'm forward looking but as an individual I'm as conservative on money issues as you can get but i'm a realist. If we wanted to be debt free we should have been that way for day one but that wasn't possible. Now this isn't meant as a knock on republicans but the biginning of our national debt explosion started with Reagan and has continued ever since. The best thing we can do is cut wasteful spending and increase revenues to reduce the deficit. Until that is done we are doomed to bigger debts leading to the tipping point where we will never recover and we will destroy our nation. The Grover Norquists of the world are in it for their own benifit, to increase their wealth not the benifit or well being of our nation as a whole. They'll squeeze every last dime they can get out of this country and when we implode and we will, they will take their millions and billions and go somewhere else leaving us to die like rats on a sinking ship. Mitt isn't stupid. He has money in tax havens around the world so if something happened here he's still set for life no matter what. And he isn't alone. The tax revenues we lose by the rich and their tax havens could start paying down our debt but the wealthy and powerful control politics so they win and we lose. Until the republican ...

I agree fan. Tax reform is urgently needed. We need to simplify the tax code and get rid of loopholes so that everyone pays something.
The majority of Americans on all sides recently polled support the idea of tax reform. It's the politicians who are scared. Manipulating the tax code in exchange for votes is one of their best weapons.
