Hostage Warren Weinstein said US President Barack Obama had shown no interest in his case and had failed to respond or accept al-Qaida’s demands, the SITE monitoring service said.

“Therefore, as a Jew, I am appealing to you, Prime Minister Netanyahu, the head of the Jewish State of Israel, as one Jew to another, to please intervene on my behalf, to work with the mujahideen and to accept their demands so that I can be released and returned to my family, see my wife, my children and my grandchildren again,” SITE quoted Weinstein as saying in a video released by al-Qaida.

The artical says "US aid worker". I don't know what that means. If he is working for an NGO providing aid or if he is working for the State Department's USAID division. If he works for the government, the government has a responsibility to secure his release. That doesn't mean giving into terrist demands, but the government is doing deals with every vermin in this part of the word anyways. The CIA has already had one guy arrested for transfeing nuclear materials to Al Qaeda (http://in.news.yahoo.com/cia... so anything is possible. As for Isreal, they're not getting involved.
