And if we kept the stupid mentality, we have no chance of ever being. We are only no.1 in confidence and ego, but while Europe built the large hadron collider, we built the creationist museum, while Hong Kong and Norway are scoring the highest on math and science, we have high school students who don't know how many continents are there (from personal experience), we have crappy healthcare, crappy economy (albeit most countries do too nowadays), high illiteracy levels, and a horrible taste in music and books.
The only thing we're no.1 at is defense spending.

There's nothing wrong with LEGAL immigration which is what the U.S. will be strictly adhering to after Jan. 2013.

I didn't say a word about being an "only refuge", or the only place people migrate to.
Fact is, there is no other country that offers every possible climate and terrain one could imagine ..... everything from an arctic wasteland to 120 degree deserts with everything in between.
People are leaving because of taxes and redistribution of wealth. An estimated 8,000 of the top taxpayers will leave in 2012 alone, before inheritance taxes kick in on Jan. 1, 2013.
And yes, immigration did make this country great. All those people from all around the world who brought their various cultures and skills that made this nation diverse and unique.
We've had our share of skirmishes over here but not too shabby for a giant melting pot.
Perhaps the biggest mistake was not deporting every one of you noobs back across the pond when we had the chance. Unfortunately, too many of you socialist royal (snicker-snicker) bastards were allowed to stay and we've been paying a heavy price ever since.
200,000 migrating every day would double the entire population you quoted in less than a month.
