There are lots of unemployed Americans looking for construction jobs.

Sure are. And the illegal immigrant situation doesn't help them.

You are right. I have a cousin who lost his job because it was cheeper to hire illegals.

You just don't get it. We are not going back to the 40's and 50's where small farms operated with seasonal transient workers. The country has grown markedly since the times when labor was performed by poorer Americans and east Europeans. Prior to that, slaves worked the cotton and corn fields.

People like you complain immigrants are "taking our jobs" but then you don't hear complaints about how a 10lb bag of potatoes sells for a few bucks in the grocery store, now do you?

What you prefer is American farm hands who would have a union demanding they each be paid $15/hr, work no more than 6 hours a day with three 40 minute breaks, plus an hour for lunch, receive full health benefits AND a retirement pension.

No we are not going back to the 1800s where it was ok to use slave labor or to the early 1900s when there were share croppers who were almost slave labor. It was not ok then and it is not ok now. It is also not ok to use criminals. So let them come here legally then they can work where ever they want.

The wait time for citizenship is now at about 8-10 years. Who will work the fields and construction while they wait? A bigger question is, who will round up several million people and deport them? Where will they stay while awaiting deportation hearings ( required by law) and now backed up by around 39 days. You have an extra bedroom?

I'm thinking the US army could do a good job as well as all of the law enforcement agencies. However if current laws were enforced they would go home on their own when they could not get work or handouts. As for where would they stay I'm thinking jail like other criminals if there is not enough room we can set up temporary camps like Sheriff Joe in Arizona.

The US Army cannot be used because the USA is not a military state. The Nat. Guard can assist the Border Patrol by being extra eyes and ears and they have. The only way to put brakes on illegals is to mandate all states use EVerify or face steep penalties. There are many states who are very against that, and then the federal government would be interferring with state sovereinty by mandating it. By law, immigration policies are detemined by the federal government. That is the problem. Congress wil not take up immigration reform. GWB laid it out before Congress 4 times, the last time in 2007. They would not touch it. Too many congressmen get very nice campaign contributions from the big agribusinesses who want no immigaration policy So, expect nothing to change except political finger pointing.

However the illegals are not US Citizens. They are foreign invaders. There is a very big difference.

Call them whatever.... Congress avoids immigration like the Bubonic Plaugue, and there is obvious reason why.

You are right and that is something we have to change. Congress tends to avoid most things that are their job.

Why bother having laws if government is allowed to choose which will be enforced and which will not?

Go for it! If the federal government won't enforce the laws on the books, then the states will have to pick up the slack.

No decision to make here. Too bad OBAMA doesn't see it the same way. He is destroying America and yet his followers want more and more.

Because "illegal" means someone is breaking a law.
Because illegals are taking jobs from citizens.
Because illegals are getting services and perks that citizens can't get.
Because illegals are sucking us dry and don't care.
Because too much of the money illegals make is sent "home."
Because... um... it's just the right thing to do. Go, 'Bama!
