Airline Passenger Arrested for Baggy Pants: Justified or Just Ridiculous?

Football player DaShon Marman was arrested and kicked off a U.S. Airways flight on Wednesday after refusing to pull up his baggy pants, ABC reports.

His mother said that she didn't like the way he dressed, either, but was furious at the airline's decision to kick him off and arrest him.

"He kept asking, 'Why? I didn't do anything.'... Deshon is not a troubled kid, he just wants to come home, get back into schooling and football and leave all this behind him. The clothing is a fad, but you cannot judge a book by its cover. That woman made a judgment call and from there, it became a power struggle. She figured, 'I'll show you.'

Officials argue that his pajama pants were "below his shorts." However, Marman explains that he attempted to pull them up, but couldn't because he was carrying his luggage and "in a line of people all moving fast toward the plane."

You say ppl who wear baggy pants are the bad ppl cuz they show thier undies...but they arent the douches that feel a sense of accomplishment after getting a child fired for his sense of style...but you proved my point that it doesnt matter how u dress, cuz 8 out of 10 times the guy wearing the suit is the evil bastard lol

That way of wearing pants is symbolic of the way street gangs identify themselves.
We are fighting wars in far off countries against terrorists. The truth is we have more to fear from the street thugs that are terrorizing our nation more than the those that have captivated our fears in the name of Islam. The street gangs are responsible for more deaths prior to 9/11 than the muslim terrorists could ever claim.

Arresting is a bit over the top. Yes, baggy pants are ridiculous, but if he was holding luggage and being rushed onto his plane as he claims, I can see how he might not have the chance to pull them up right away. I do hope this underwear-showing fad goes out of style fast and I hope this incident sticks with this young man and he dresses more appropriately in the future, but arrest was a bit extreme.

It's indecent to have your pants hanging really low, exposing your drawers and whatever else. Made sense he was asked to pull them up. He didn't comply and was being disorderly they had a right to call the police to assist him out.

okay had to get that out.....Since the rest of us have to go through the groping crap, pulling up his baggy pants is the least he could do after all who knows what could be in them. It is interesting that he is kicked off the plane but DaShon believes he was holding his luggage and in a line of people. Hmmm maybe he is troubled

    Another misleading headline by SodaHead.

He was not arrested for wearing baggy pants.

He was arrested because he (a) was committing indecent exposure by having his butt showing, (b) engaged in disorderly conduct, and (c) resisted arrest when the police came.

Please get your facts straight in your headlines, SodaHead. Pretty please, with sugar on top.

Public lewdness is a crime. Put him out on the road picking up trash every day after school for a month and I'll bet he finds a way to pull his pants up from now on. Yes, he'll get kicked off the FB team. So what. It's time to civilize these juvy deliquents.

When these boys "offer" themselves sexually to be cool, then someone with taste should intervene. Actually, I am sick of seeing underwear and the cracks of these boys' butts. Pull your pants up, unless you really are advertising the same thing that prisoners are advertising with that particular style of dress. If that's a case, I believe it could be considered prostitution and is illegal. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

The airlines already have too much power over the public. Now that we have the FascisTSAs to enforce whatever unconstitutional strip search they feel like doing, I guess we can look forward to more of the same. I think saggy pants makes you look rather mentally-challenged, but if that is the impression he wants to convey, who cares.

Private business, thier plane, their rules.

Next time, wear proper clothing because outside of the hood?

NOBODY WANTS TO LOOK AT YOUR SKIVIES AND ARSE HANGING OUT YOUR BAGGY PANTS!

I think people forget that airlines are a business and may refuse to serve anyone they choose not too so long as they are consistent in how they make that choice and do not discriminate based on sex, race, age, sexual orientation.

It says nothing about inappropriate attire!

When the dangerous issue can be easily remedied, it should be. In the article he even states that he was trying to pull up his pants but couldn't because --"he was carrying his luggage and "in a line of people all moving fast toward the plane." The airlines give special attention to people with special needs in cases of emergency. He doesn't have any special needs other than his inflated ego.
