Airline Passenger Arrested for Baggy Pants: Justified or Just Ridiculous?

Football player DaShon Marman was arrested and kicked off a U.S. Airways flight on Wednesday after refusing to pull up his baggy pants, ABC reports.

His mother said that she didn't like the way he dressed, either, but was furious at the airline's decision to kick him off and arrest him.

"He kept asking, 'Why? I didn't do anything.'... Deshon is not a troubled kid, he just wants to come home, get back into schooling and football and leave all this behind him. The clothing is a fad, but you cannot judge a book by its cover. That woman made a judgment call and from there, it became a power struggle. She figured, 'I'll show you.'

Officials argue that his pajama pants were "below his shorts." However, Marman explains that he attempted to pull them up, but couldn't because he was carrying his luggage and "in a line of people all moving fast toward the plane."

Even though I think there are people deserving of the death penalty I oppose it because of the unfair way it is distributed. In the OJ trial the prosecution announced they weren't going to seek the death penalty because of the "wealth and fame" of the defendant.

Meanwhile some poor black guy was executed in North Carolina. That execution was only somewhat controversial because the guy was mentally retarded. The story was buried in the middle of the news section because no one cared.

Well, I think maybe he should had asked someone to borrow his pants, changed his in the bathroom, and did what he was told.

Maybe that would had turned out better.

If they want to push a dress code, they should make that public known! I wonder how many complaints you need to get someone thrown off a plane for wearing excessively tight clothing!

White or not, common sense needs to prevail. I don't care if he had a jock strap on, when the authorities tell you to clean it up, you do it, or face the consequence. Again, if you don't like it, take it up later, simple common sense........................... a black and white issue by no means unless you think blacks should be able to dress any way they want to reflect the hood?

If there is a code for black people than there should be one for white people . A white guy was allowed with panties and a bra on. So why was he not kicked off the plan and arrested . I will tell you why it is all due to hue .

Will not argue the issue of their being a difference in attitudes between blacks and whites. That's be going on for hundreds of years, somtime justified and most times unjustified. But my issue still is the same when confronted by authorities, even some of those authorities have no common sense.

If he has his pants worn down like that he's a low life piece of sh!t. There is no other answer. I'm really tired of racist black American ghetto culture dictating popular culture in this country. Haven't we had enough of the throw away babies, poverty, crime, violence and trillions of tax dollars to support the most useless and selfish people the world(liberals) has ever manufactured.

As long as his ass and junk are covered, and as long as there are no visible pee stains on his underwear, I see no problem.

Also, arrested? For something that isnt a real crime? I'd think its hard to be more ridiculous than this, but the fact that the following occur makes me think otherwise.

    1) the US government sends swat teams to drag men in their underwear out of their homes... over a student loan that wasnt even his.

    2) banks can foreclose on a home that they dont own, never owned, and have no right to foreclose on the home.

    3) Swat teams regularly raid private businesses for serving raw milk.

    I could go on...

    Edit:
    How is this refusal?

"Marman explains that he attempted to pull them up, but couldn't because he was carrying his luggage and "in a line of people all moving fast toward the plane.""

I answer this justified not for the pants, that is not why or what he was arrested for.
He refused the pilot who told him he had to leave the plane, when he refused he was arrested by the pilot for tresspassing. The police only transported him to jail.
As far as the pants he should have had the common sense to pull them up when told to by the flight attendant and certainly when told to by the pilot. I am sure the Pilot did not ask nicely at this point.. Perhaps the Airline could offer a little cultural diversity since they deal with so many people.

Since when do they have a dress code for flying on a plane? Is it published somewhere?

    It probably looks like this:

    1. Don't dress too Muslim
    2. Don't dress too black
    3. Cleavage is fine but crack is not.

To quote a comment in the talkback on the article:

"None of us look our best 100% of the time, even those of you that seem to think you are superior to him. His attire at this one particular moment does not reflect upon his normal attire, and was influenced by circumstances in his life leading up to this moment, which unless you know him, you don't know anything about regardless of what you "think" you know from the news. All you people need to stop assuming you know Deshon or his "type" because you saw a snapshot of his life. Didn't your parents ever teach you "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all"?? If not, maybe we should be questioning YOUR upbringing. "

    Right on lady!
