Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad threatened once again to destroy Israel. "The nations of the region will soon finish off the usurper Zionists in the Palestinian land.... A new Middle East will definitely be formed. With the grace of God and help of the nations, in the new Middle East there will be no trace of the Americans and Zionists," he said.
Israel has support from the international community when even France defends Israel from Iranian rhetoric. French deputy foreign ministry spokesman Vincent Floreani said, "We firmly condemn these outrageous and totally unacceptable statements and we remind (Iran) that we would never allow the right of Israel to live in peace to be called into question."

Israel won the military aspects of that war however, that did not suit the media and they served as the public relations firm of Hezbollah. There were endless Islamic cries for a long term truce. The only time Muslims want a truce is when they are losing and wish to prevent a defeat. That is the only time a truce is allowed according to the Koran. Never once was the term peace treaty used because peace with the infidel is forbidden.
