well, I will say that Muslims have and are still in the slave business...but remember slavery has existed since the dawn of time...back in the days of the Roman Empire their arch nemesis Carthage (A north african empire) was so efficient at it, they wrote a scholarly literary work on the subject and it's one of the few things that the Romans found merit about the Carthaginians. Romans when they finally defeated them not only destroyed the city brick by brick and by fire....they salted the earth so that nothing could grow where the city was....but the manuals on slavery written by the Carthaginians they kept...

Slavery existed far before the Muslims. The Egyptians took slaves. Islam in comparison is said to have started in the 7th Century AD.

It goes back even further than that. No one has claimed that Muslim's created slavery, that would be ridiculous.

...but then how could Muslims initiate African Slavery? Egypt is at the top of Africa. I'm just saying it doesn't really match up to what you're posting. I think it's more likely the Egyptians caused African Slavery than Muslims in general. All of those nations picked up on it, and it's likely the Africans themselves took slaves amongst their own people and tribes...

Have you thought about it in the context of Arab Muslims initiating slave trade with Europeans. I believe that is what the author of the film is speaking about, its not right to take his words his words out of context.

Cal, if you are really trying to understand anything, then you have to temporarily drop preconceived notions, and listen through the speakers eyes first to truly understand their point of view, otherwise a person is coloring the words. Listening and understanding have nothing to do with a person agreeing or not. Respectfully.

The term Moors refers to the medieval Muslim inhabitants of Northwest Africa, the Iberian Peninsula, Septimania, Sicily and Malta. The Moors called their Iberian territory Al-Andalus, an area comprising Gibraltar, much of what is now Spain and Portugal, and part of France. There was also a Moorish presence in present-day southern Italy after they occupied Mazara in 827[1] until their last settlement of Lucera was destroyed in 1300. The religious difference of the Moorish Muslims led to a centuries-long conflict with the Christian kingdoms of Europe called the Reconquista.
