AFL-CIO president, says that conservatives have duped the people, because conservatives consider the word "FREEDOM" sacred. Is he right or is he wrong?

Interesting - freedom is a word that frightens some who want to control others, unions of course are an example of controllers

Freedom and liberty are sacred, and our fathers and forefather paid the price in bloodshed for us to have our freedoms. They should never be taken for granted, but cherished and protected for our children and future generations

It is not the "word" freedom that is sacred, but the "concept of freedom". To but it in simple terms for our liberal friends. Freedom is what is sacred!

Freedom in American Political Ideology means the independence of individual through freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and markets. Limited and small government to protect these liberties from the tyranny of overly powerful central government . What is the reason that this one word "freedom" ,strikes so much terror in the heart of ALF-CIO President Richard L. Trumka ? Because a people who hold these freedoms as sacred will never live in servitude to a government or union.

Leave it to a UNION THUG to not know what freedom means.
Best thing to do with ALL Union THUGS is to induct them into the Armed forces, put them onto the front line, give them a gun and a shove in the right direction!!! IF they survive, I'll bet they would know what FREEDOM was when they got back home.

Absolutely wrong, just wrong wrong. Apparently the UNIONS haven't learned from the situation in Wisconsin. Freedom to the unions means that you do as I say not as I do. I believe that about 28% of union members voted against unions in Wisconsin. San Jose a liberal sanctuary is going against the unions as is San Diego. Unions have lost thier power due to incompetence and their over reach for power.

Or not voting to go out on strike. The Union decides that FOR you. I was in the AFL-CIO one time. THEY told us we had to go on strike. Co. decided they were tired of the Union jacking wages up to the point they could not make money, so they closed down. As did about 50 more small factories in MIch over a period of about 20 yrs. Unions are Leeches that only care about SUCKING a Co dry of funds and move on when the expense puts the Co. out of business.

That's right. This is why every union is against any "RIGHT TO WORK LAWS". With those laws on the books, the unions can't blackmial the companies into submission. If you will notice, which car companies are doing well? These are car companies in a "RIGHT TO WORK" states

When Hitler was elected "DER FUHRER", he made sure that what he intended to do, was within the law. Hence he passed the law forbidding Jews to be citizens. These politicians in Washington has already passed a law against terrorists. It's up to Washington to determine who the terrorists are. Now that Washington has decreed that everyone that prefer "PERSONAL FREEDOM" and less big government as terrorists, it's only a matter of time when they will be using these facilities against these people.

AFL-CIO president is the one who has duped the people.
What do Unions do but extort money from business.
Safe working conditions? We have OSHA
Fair wages? We have the Federal Wage and labor board
Give money to corrupt politicians so they can extort more money from business? Yep

If you get rid of the Unions completely, you'll see how long it takes companies to lower workers wages to $5.00 an hour. No one will work for that wage. There are air conditioning and heating journeyman jobs that are high risk and dangerous. These people do this kind of work because it pays a living wage. I don't think they'll risk their lilfe for $5. an hour. I don't think this is the kind of work anyone would do if they were paid so little, and you can't outsource it either. Good luck finding gullible people to walk on platforms several feet above the ground and do dangerous work. People in this type of work risk lung desease from asbestos and fiberglass, as well as falling from high platforms. The knowledge and the type of work they do is worth a living wage. The Unions that I have personal knowledge of, train their workers, so they don't make dangerous mistakes. Buildings have been known to collapse because the cement was not thick enough or didn't have time to dry properly. Unions train and prepare their workers to do the job right the first time; that saves money and lives. Osha has not been as effective in checking safety recently as they did in the past. It isn't well funded and unfortunately, that is the last thing that would be funded under a Conservative administration.

Unions don't force their workers to contribute to presidential campaigns. If workers contribute, it's their decision....not the union's. I don't have personal knowledge of what the AFL/CIO does, but I know that isn't the case with local unions. The reason workers may want to contribute is because the Democratic Party has always believed in the right of people to form a union. Unions provide training, safe working conditions, health insurance and good wages, which employees deserve.

The employers would pay much lower wages and would have unsafe working conditions, if there were no unions. If there were no advantages for workers, Unions would be hard pressed to find people who want to do this work; furthermore, you wouldn't want to be an employee in a building completed by non-union laborers. They don't bother to train the workers, no safety measures, and jobs would go overtime because of mistakes, that cost the company.

I think the opportunity to opt out of contrbutions has just come recently. I heard a women on the news say it took her 8 months to get the paper work straight and opt out. The idea that Union labor is more superior to non union labor in my opinion is a farce. I've worked next to both.

Anyone who wants to take away the freedom of others would not consider the word sacred. However, for those of us who honor the lives that have fallen for our freedom understand the importance of keeping our freedom. Of course the AFL-CIO unions do not want us to keep our freedom, which is why they are so close to the president.

How much action did Trumka see in the service? Did he ever fight for American freedom? If he ever got his chubby buns in a sweat, I'd be very surprised. The only time he'd break out in a sweat is when the liberals lose any power, or the unions were stopped from using their "strong arm" tactics.

Unions have lost their effectiveness and are destroying the American work ethic. GM didn't get bailed out, the UAW did. Geez, where else can you get protection to be a crappy worker at exorbitant salaries and even more exorbitant retirement plans?

Typical for the average socialist that swallows union swill. Maybe if Mr Trumka had spent the late 60s and early 70s in Southeast Asia with me instead of hangin' out at penn State and Villanova, he'd have a little more appreciation for the term "freedom".

Good thing he's a leftie, or we'd have have all the loons decrying him as a 'Draft-dodger" for going to college instead of Vietnam. Wonder how many deferments he received??

Freedom technically violates AFL-CIO practices for taking dues and to spend either lavishly, & politically to stump, stampede, march or knock on doors for Democrats regardless of political affiliation or leanings of a given member. Those dues-payers are free to take it and shut their mouth or pay dearly for exercising rights the Union has not granted.

He's not going to loose none of his freedom. He's one of the self appointed "ELITES". I'm willing to bet, that should he have to defend himself in court, he will demand his "CONSTITUTIONAL" rights. What every liberal, socialists or communists doesn't realise, is that "FREEDOM", is the greatest bulwark against tyrany.
