In a fast-breaking development comes word that agents of the Attorney’s General office in Louisiana have raided ACORN’s offices in New Orleans. ACORN’s New Orleans was, for decades, the headquarters of the national community organizing association. News of the raid comes from Marcel Reid and her colleagues at ACORN 8, an association of former ACORN leaders and board members. Many of the individuals involved with ACORN 8 were fired from ACORN for demanding a forensic audit following an embezzlement scandal involving Dale Rathke, brother of ACORN co-founder Wade Rathke.

ACORN should not exist! Can anyone tell me why ACORN exist? Isn't there a state or federal office that can do everything ACORN "supposedly" does. Of course, there is! ACORN should not exist, but yet, it has become a quasi-official government agency. ACORN has never done anything but pull slickie deals, and support corrupt politicians! We, Americans, let it happen! There is so much slime going on in government! Wow! We, Americans, have been asleep at the wheel way too long! We've been screwed, glued, and tattooed, and we were sitting on our hineys eating popcorn and watching our wide-screen TVs feeling fat, dumb, and happy! Man! We all need to wake up and rescue our country!

Good argument about apathy, Sherry. And yes, I have been guilty of it. The internet allows, even promotes, far more watchdogs and quick access to people like me who have felt alone and isolated in the past.

We Americans did let it happen. Now we are in the fight of our lives for the future of our country and for our descendents. It will be hard, but I still think it can be done!
