ABC NEWS BANS FLAG LAPEL PINS

NEWS BANS FLAG LAPEL PINS

ABC NEWS BANS FLAG LAPEL PINS

Barbara Walters said that this was going to hurt ABC

bad.

As you know she works for ABC.

This should make your blood boil...it DOES mine!

YESTERDAY THE BRASS AT ABC NEWS ISSUED

ORDERS FORBIDDING REPORTERS TO WEAR LAPEL

PIN AMERICAN FLAGS OR OTHER PATRIOTIC INSIGNIA.

THEIR REASONING WAS THAT ABC SHOULD REMAIN

NEUTRAL ABOUT 'CAUSES'.

SINCE WHEN IS SUPPORT FOR PREVENTING DEATH AND

DESTRUCTION SOME SORT OF A 'CAUSE'?

SINCE WHEN IS PATRIOTISM TOWARDS OUR

COUNTRY TO BE FORBIDDEN, AND CONSIDERED

UNACCEPTABLE?

I URGE YOU TO BOYCOTT ABC AND ITS SPONSORS AND

AFFILIATES. WE ARE SLOWLY LOSING EVERYTHING OUR

COUNTRY STANDS FOR AND EVERYTHING OUR MEN AND

WOMEN FOUGHT AND DIED TO PRESERVE!

PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO AS MANY AS YOU CAN. THIS

HAS BEEN VERIFIED THROUGH:

check http://www.snopes.com/rumors/noflags.asp And, this NEEDS TO

BE CIRCULATED...QUICKLY!

Apparently ABC wants to be politically correct and

please that long legged Islamic terrorist in D.C. that

calls himself our president.

You!

This is definitely not neutral. This is UNPATRIOTIC and in my opinion a violation of their employees individual rights under the constitution. This definitely goes against everything the US stands for. In my opinion they not only need to be boycotted as far as watching, there should be a demonstration at every one of their stations.

Has anyone ever watched ABC's Primetime, "What would you do"? It's got to be one of the most one-sided, jaded, and slanderous pieces of journalism ever produced. It constantly depicts the white race as ignorant, racist, bigoted, homophobic, or simply non-caring! Remaining "neutral" hasn't been a trademark of ABC.

This is one more way the news media is sucking up to Obama!!! Shame on you!!!!!
How unpatriotic can you possibly get!!! I can't believe that no one at ABC isn't an
American and man enough to say so. Stand up for this country - that's what is
politically correct. Maybe if we had an American president ABC would not have done
this horrible thing for all of us to see. The media is going along with taking away any-
thing that is good, moral, honest and the right thing to do. Apparently ABC is an
Un-American station. All their advertising should be pulled and take them off the
air!!!!!!! I watch FOX now - they really get with it. They speak about doing what's
right and stand up for this great country!!!!!

"Please note that when the message above says ABC News banned flag lapel pins "yesterday," it's referring to a date in 2001, shortly after the terrorist attacks of September 11. This was not a recent event.

And although it's true that ABC News instituted such a ban, the network's stated reasons were somewhat more cogent than what is indicated above. According to ABC spokesman Jeffrey Schneider, the network saw it as necessary to protect its reporters' credibility, not to mention their personal safety abroad.

"We cannot signal through outward symbols how we feel, even if the cause is justified," he said in a statement to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Overseas, it could be perceived that we're just mouthpieces for the U.S. government, and that can place our journalists in danger."

ABC was the only major network to set such a policy, however. It was applauded by some for its integrity and derided by others as an attempt to stifle patriotism. As Washington Post media reporter Howard observed, the issue generated a good deal of ambivalence in the journalistic profession as a whole. As Washington Post media reporter Howard observed, the issue generated a good deal of ambivalence in the journalistic profession as a whole. "There are passionate views on both sides of this question," he said in a September 2001 commentary on CNN. "Journalists are patriots who love their country, and are horrified by these attacks, but many believe it's simply inappropriate for them to engage in flag-waving on the air."

Regardless of which stand they took, every journalist who came down on one side of the issue or the other saw the decision as a matter of conscience. In the aftermath of 9/11, Meet the Press host Tim Russert chose to wear a red, white, and blue ribbon on camera. Other NBC anchors, including Matt Lauer and Katie Couric, did not. At Fox News, Britt Hume and others proudly sported American flag lapel pins. Bill O'Reilly did not.

"I'm just a regular guy," O'Reilly was quoted as saying in Time magazine. "Watch me and you'll know what I think without wearing a pin."
