A SodaHead friend argues that Yahweh enslaved his chosen people in Egypt for 400 years because “it builds character”. Who is the lunatic--Yahweh or his followers?

    The better questions would be.
Why does Holy Idiot feel the need to belittle others and their beliefs???
Can Holy Idiot add a comment without cut and paste being used??
Was Holy Idiot abused as a child?
Is Holy Idiot so unhappy in his life that he must try to make others feel as he does?

Then allow me to criticize evil! As you said, it's important!

You seem to think faith is evil and destructive. How wrong you are!

Some people argue that faith takes over where reason leaves off. This is not so with Christian faith. Reason requires a foundation, which only the Bible can provide. There are only 2 choices, either we try to reason our way TO the truth of the Bible or we reason FROM the truth of the Bible. The first choice attempts to arrive at belief, without justification for the tools of reasoning, the second takes the Bible as the foundation for truth and the justification for all reasoning.

Faith is not without reason. Faith is not above reason, or contrary to reason. In fact faith is demanded by reason. Everyone starts from faith, but not all admit it. Professed unbelievers say that they use reason as their starting point and not faith. We must ask though, what is their reason for trusting reason? The thing is, they don't have a reason for trusting reason, they have a 'blind faith' in reason.

Everyone starts from faith. The question is not whether we start from faith but whether we will place that faith in God or in man.

The faith of the professed unbeliever cannot give a reason for reason. Christian faith on the other hand is the basis for all knowledge. The Bi...

The Bible teaches that "All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Christ." (2 Colossians vs. 3), and that "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge." (Proverbs 1 vs. 7)

Christian faith is not blind, rather it is the pre-condition for rational thought.

Ummmmm... The Christian God destroyed the world with fire? When did this happen? Was I sleeping?

The fire is yet to come! It has not happened yet. There is no difference between the Jewish God and Christian God. They are the same!

As far as being a lunatic is concerned.... Let me point out that you find joy in spending your time insulting God, a being you admittedly do not believe in. Furthermore, you refer to his actions which(in your opinion)did not happen, as evidence of his lunacy!

Somebody forgot to consult their logic prior to displaying their ignorance!

    Proverbs 13:16 -
"Every prudent man acts out of knowledge, but a fool exposes his folly."
In an effort to avoid misunderstanding, the latter part of the verse above, describes what you have done here! Your remarks expose your foolishness!

Tell me oh wise product of "nature"(as you see it), what is "truth"? How do you know it to be true without a basis from truth?

In order for our inferences to be valid, they must be the product of valid reasoning, and in order for our reason to be valid, it must come from a reasonable source – not mindless, purposeless, irrational forces. Thus, only the theist has sufficient cause to trust his reason.

If we believe in naturalism, we must disbelieve in the validity of reason. And if we disbelieve in the validity of reason, why should we believe in anything, including naturalism?

Naturalism isn't logical. Truth, is a product of logic, is it not? Naturalism therefore is false. Your position is therefore false. Share with us the truth of your false position and why you believe it to be true.

Your knowledge of the stock market is as deficient as every other area I've had occasion to probe, hh.

    DOW

If you have eyes to see, you will notice there was a long flat period at about 100 for the first 20 years or so of the 20th century, then a boom in the 20s, followed by the great depression and another flat period until after WW2. Then followed another rapid period of growth until the mid 60s, then another plateau at about 1000 until the mid 80s, followed by another period of rapid growth until the early 2000s. Since then we have been in another relatively flat region at around 10,000, and if history is any guide, has yet to last some years.

All your blathering about the "Bush" stock market is just that: blathering.

If $15,700,000,000,000.00 didn't do the trick, why would we be stupid enough to keep doing it? Doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results remains the answer for the insane! Insanity won't solve the problem for anyone but the insane. Who knows though, maybe the next time you put your hand in the fire, you won't get burned!
