...you know we always talk about the debt that we will leave to our grandchildren but what about the world we are leaving them? I mean just look at little things like all the plastic water bottles we fill our dumps with, why don't we have just one little bottle that we can refill time and again? I know it's a little inconvenient but it goes a long way to help the enironment. (-:

Reality is you can not have Profit without an Environment.

People will figure out how to protect the environment, and do things, without the need for profits. If people agree, there is no need for having more.

My electricity machine will change the world, to support clean air, clean travel, clean tourism, and supporting the environment.

Fact is you can have both. Capitalism works and even China is going back to it because socialism was destroying their country. Capitalism gives people the desire to create and without that desire people would stop creating new ways of doing things and part of those creations will be a cleaner way of doing it such as solar and wind. People came up with those plans with the idea of profit without that motivating them there would of been no solar or wind. Think before you post.

Capitalism has brought more people out of poverty and raised the standard of living for more people than any other economic system.

    Fact.

People will always find a way to survive, with that said this ideology of putting profit before people and environment could be a major factor in the number or survivors and the amount of habitat that they can settle.

19th century Europe. Especially the UK. Most powerful nation on the face of the earth, no regard at all for workers or the Environment. Same with China 1950+.

Of course - the question was: "A Society that puts Profit before People and their Environment Will not Survive: Agree or Disagree?" My answer was that China (which is doing just that) was doing just fine. I did not say that I agreed with what they are doing but it is fair to say that they are surviving just fine

Even they are in serious trouble - the provinces are heavily in debt and their economy is far from self sustaining yet.

The global economic problem is slowing them down and may even stall them.

Between undrinkable water, acid rain, air that actually cause respiratory problems, and soil that is outright poisonous.... all cause by people/businesses more concerned with their pocketbooks than with being safe. Besides the economic disaster in the Gulf, and the pollution that ruined the Gulf of Mexico... remember how many lives were lost due to one companies blatant disregard for people or the environment; and those lives lost can NEVER be replaced.

the US has exported all its polluting, inflation, and labor laws to countries that openly trash their people and environment. The US will continue to have half the economy working while the other half slides into pleebian society .... but who cares about pleebs?

The state of the environment has a direct impact on economics. Take the BP oil spill for example. Many profits for big oil, but the fishing, shrimping and tourism industries took a big hit.

Earth fixes herself. It may take 100,000 or a million years (not long in comparison to the Earth), but remember, there were 11 lives lost that day and that can NEVER be replaced.

Economics and environmental resources go hand in hand, which was my point. Earth does heal itself, but like any injury, if it is very great it cannot necessarily recover or will take a very long time to repair. I agree about the 11 lives not being able to be replaced. That was a safety issue. But both safety and environmental regulations are important.

Agreed. But, safety and environmental concerns typically go hand-in-hand. Look at BP, Chernobyl, Bhopal, Exxon Valdez, PG&E....; the list goes on. All of those were massive failures to observe safety practices. Too bad, it usually takes disasters on this scale to get people to open their eyes, and even then companies are so.profit driven that many ignore it, or simply don't care.
