A New "Pole Tax" .. Houston's Strip Clubs!
The city of Houston is turning to an unusual source to help fund rape investigations: strip clubs.
The City Council of the nation's fourth-largest city passed an ordinance Wednesday that requires strip clubs to pay a $5-per-visitor fee to help pay for the analysis of biological evidence collected from rape victims in hopes of identifying their attackers.
Police in Houston, and in many other parts of the US, lack the money to promptly analyze evidence such as hair particles and blood specimens, gathered by investigators in packets known as rape kits. Houston estimates it has 6,000 rape kits that have yet to be scrutinized by crime laboratories.
Supporters of the Houston ordinance, which was supported by Mayor Annise Parker and approved on a 14-1 vote, contend that strip clubs should shoulder some of the costs of rape investigations because the establishments can cultivate unhealthy attitudes toward women that can lead to sexual assaults.
Ready for a "twirl" around the ole "May Pole"?

"strip clubs should shoulder some of the costs of rape investigations because the establishments can cultivate unhealthy attitudes toward women that can lead to sexual assaults,"
If what they say is true, then they are leaving themselves open to negligence lawsuits for allowing Strip Clubs to operate in the first place.
I think many TV programs do the same thing. How do they charge those viewers?
I would support a "Pole Tax" if they provided statistics that said Strip Clubs fostered criminal activity. But I would expect every business (Tattoo Parlors, Bars, Liquor Stores, etc...) to have something equivalent.
for example .. motel/hotel rooms
venue/Event taxes ..
another day .. another TAX ..
(gee .. government seems to LIKE taxes!)
I don't remember the name of the bar or the girl's name. But it seems that she was the crowd's favorite.
Which was kind of odd since she could only go around the poll in one direction.
This was a little over 20 years ago. And I hope that she is doing well with her life.
(I did not make this story up)
