A Letter in Support of Chick-fil-A

Liberals v Companies That Operate With Christian Family Values

letter support chick-fil-a liberals companies operate christian family values

We hereby declare our support for the executives, franchise owners and more than 61,000 employees of Chick-fil-A for their Christian business practices, as well as their stated support for biblical values, which is to say traditional American family values.

The restaurant chain is under assault for remarks made by CEO Dan Cathy, who said, "We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business ... and we give God thanks for that."

The mayors of some of America's largest cities, including Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, have made known their objection to Christian businesses, and they made clear their intent to make it difficult for Chick-fil-A to operate in their cities.

Typical of those objections was this proclamation by Chicago's Rahm Emanuel: "Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values." (Apparently, Chicago values include becoming the murder capital of the nation, while hosting Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, the Christian-hating race baiter who, ironically, opposes same-sex marriage.)

In response, we, the undersigned, declare our support for any business that operates with Christian values. Accordingly we also declare a boycott against tourism or business conventions any city that declares its opposition to such Christian owned and operated businesses.

My three kids have all worked for ChikFilA. My oldest son is now a manager. His general manager and ten year employee of the company happens to be gay. It never comes up as a topic. They have all gotten scholarships. They have all learned managerial skills. The food is listed as among the healthiest fast food offerings and their locations are clean and their employees courteous. What purpose would it serve to be rude and make teenaged cashiers cry? What sense does it make to go on a liberal rant and then buy twenty bucks of food? This is just another liberal smokescreen, just like the hype over Romney's Olympics comments #WhatWillBeTheNextObamaSmokeS...

Frankly I don't care what a gay couple does. I have no problem with civil unions as I believe they should be afforded the legal protections such a union provides such as survivorship, etc. However, I have a real problem with some pompous mayor announcing that a business is not welcome in his rat hole of a city because he disagrees with the "values" the business owner expresses personally.

I guess Chicago values are to have dozens of people gunned down on their streets each week with illegally acquired handguns.

They have the same rights to their beliefs as any gay person in this country. Anyone slamming on them or boycotting because they stand up for those beliefs are hypocrites IMO. You cannot claim to be fighting for YOUR rights while DENYING someone else theirs just because they disagree with you.

Dan Cathy made NO negative comments about homosexuals in the radio interview that caused the current firestorm of controversy. His exact words were: "We are very much supportive of the family—the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that."

Another point that should be made is that Chick-Fil-A does not discriminate against homosexuals or any other group. Homosexuals are just as welcome to purchase a chicken sandwich as anyone else at a Chick-Fil-A.

    ...

Also the Jim Henson Company (The Muppets) claiming to "...celebrate and embrace diversity" is pure hypocrisy on its part. Embracing diversity means being open to a variety of different values and different points of view, not just those that you agree with. What Henson calls "embracing diversity" is nothing more than political double-talk for embracing homosexuality. Since this is what the Jim Henson Company really means by diversity, it should have the intellectual honesty and fortitude to say so.

Nothing will get people attention away from the economy. Most people are still focused on where they will live, or IF they will still have a job tomorrow.

so true. What obama doesn't understand is that people are aware of it every single day, at the gas pump, at the grocery store etc....all these attempts to focus the people away from the issues only work for a short time before everyone is zero'd right back to their bank accounts and the numbers that climb at the gas pump.

On another site this poster advocates that some owners, Christian perhaps, should go into the closet that gays just came out of. Hypocritical much? Of course I support CFA's right to free speech without fear of reprisal from mayors who can't even keep their own people safe.
......."you need to understand that some owners should keep their mouths shut if they do not want to go under."

Well I'm really not confused about my morals. Christians most certainly are. I know a Christian gay couple that have been together for 15 years that want to marry yet cannot because of your supposed Christian family values. Yet myself and my boyfriend who are both atheist can whenever we so choose. The idiocy of the Christian right at least is good for a laugh if nothing else.

You and your boyfriend can get married when you want because it will be a marriage between a man and a woman. Do you also support Sharia Law and fight for Muslim equality?

Supporting gay marriage weakens your countries strengths and sakes all of us more venerable to enemies, both domestic and foreign. Consider the strength of America in the first 2 World Wars and the Vietnam wars. America stood in unity against the gay agenda. When they started coming out of the closet our country has been in decline ever since. Prove me wrong with real facts if you can.

I don't need to prove anything to someone like yourself not because I cannot but because as I can tell from your comments you wouldn't believe anything other then what you already think.

    OTHER:

I support the people in Chick-fil-A to believe what they want just like with everyone else but I do no have the same beliefs as their CEO

also I don't like their food because of the taste seems off which probably deals with how they store the food products and where they are getting the food products

really to me there is no point in all of the hubbub about what ONE person said

It's not asking for special rights you have the right to marry the person you LOVE they should have that SAME right! Someone elses opinion should not determine what consenting adults do with their own life.

Gay men already have the right to marry women, and lesbian women already have the right to marry men. So it IS special rights.

But it's not about the rights, it's about changing the definition of the word.

When black people wanted equal rights with white people, they didn't want to be called white, they just wanted the same rights.

If gays really wanted the same rights, then they would be happy with a civil union that provided the exact same rights.

But that's not nearly as important as making everyone else change the definition of a word that's had the same meaning for thousands of years.

The other alternative is to get the government out of the personal relationship business, and then my point wouldnt' matter. :-)
  • Hippygirl Doc 2012/07/31 22:38:00
    Hippygirl
Well see when black people and white people wanted the right to marry EACH OTHER we did not come up with a new word to call the marriage just because there where stupid idiots out there who thought that they should not be married. They even used your Jesus to defend there ignorance. So you will have to excuse me because I dont see your point. Do you know how many words in the dictionary have either changed or add to the definition. Its a WORD it does nothing to you to share it. You already share it with people who can legally do it but have no respect for it, do they not do more harm to it then people who would honor what it stands for?
  • Doc Hippygirl 2012/08/01 07:24:24
    Doc
Please don't be angry! I apologize for my snide remark earlier. When it comes to black and white, they weren't supporting calling a gay relationship marraige, they were talking about a man marrying a woman! They didn't wanted to be called white!
you can check everything I've ever posted, and I NEVER talk about what I've gone through, I only ask what others think, and why. That being said, I would ask you to please realizr=e that I've gone through as much discrimination as anyone who hasn't lost their life and that you pklease focus on the right, not hte word. why? Becasue the word is about control and the right is about the right.
