It's on public property to honor men lost in WW2

Merry☆ 2012/08/06 21:47:49this_____+13As an atheist, I think organizations like this are just obnoxious. A cross on public property, big deal. It's honoring the men who died in WWII and it's not hurting anybody. They could be promoting science and free thought, but instead they want to make asses of themselves. It's just stupid.

Second, I think that the time for complaining about the use of religious symbols is during their erection and not a century later. If a particular group or individual involved in a memorial that plans on using a cross or other religious symbol has an objection then of course something different should be used. But we have no way of knowing if those in this memorial had an issue or didn't. Removing it, or altering it from its original creation a century ago is disrespectful to those involved.
Third, in cases like the the ACLU is a bully. They go into cash strapped small towns with a large legal fund and attempt to economically bully away religious symbols. They hope that the town will give in and take it down rather than go bankrupt defending themselves. Bully tactics.
A historic monument should reflect the time it was built, not be mutilated for political correctness.
My thoughts resemble this - I think they can kiss my ass.
Thoes idiots of freedom from religion , tut tut tut
You know they are lookin for trouble .
They will get no freedom from that. Simple as that .
Now that we have heard them - politely point out that the majority disagree with them, and ask them to do something more productive with their time...
