As an atheist, I think organizations like this are just obnoxious. A cross on public property, big deal. It's honoring the men who died in WWII and it's not hurting anybody. They could be promoting science and free thought, but instead they want to make asses of themselves. It's just stupid.

We should be free to have or not have religion. I say let it stand, if it honors the families of the men and the men, themselves, that our country lost in WW2. It does not impose upon anyone within their private domain. It was not funded by tax dollars.

These are people who need to find something else to do. It would be nice to be free of these asses. Leave the cross alone.

First, its a memorial not state mandated faith.

Second, I think that the time for complaining about the use of religious symbols is during their erection and not a century later. If a particular group or individual involved in a memorial that plans on using a cross or other religious symbol has an objection then of course something different should be used. But we have no way of knowing if those in this memorial had an issue or didn't. Removing it, or altering it from its original creation a century ago is disrespectful to those involved.

Third, in cases like the the ACLU is a bully. They go into cash strapped small towns with a large legal fund and attempt to economically bully away religious symbols. They hope that the town will give in and take it down rather than go bankrupt defending themselves. Bully tactics.

    They're idiots.
A historic monument should reflect the time it was built, not be mutilated for political correctness.

If it offends you, look away. Other people may find peacefulness from this. Who are they to deny peoples peace of mind?

I think removing crosses is ridiculous. No one is forcing Religion on these people, they can believe or not believe as they so choose.

These groups probably wouldn't have a problem if there was a satanic symbol on public grounds. We would hear crickets chirping crickets chirping crickets chirping

Leave Military Crosses Where They Are, even if they are on public land. Don't like it? Simply don't look when you pass it.

Keep the cross. It's honoring the dead, not promoting religion. My dad has one on his grave in a national military cemetery. And that military cemetery is public property. But it is honoring the dead, not promoting religion.

I wonder who the 1 person who was offended is? I wonder if that person has the guts to step forward. Just sounds like a group that wants to take away peoples right to worship. Last I checked it was still freedom of religion.

they have a right to be heard but...

Now that we have heard them - politely point out that the majority disagree with them, and ask them to do something more productive with their time...

I think that atheist groups like this one have formed their own religion that is built on hate and the destruction of all who don't agree with them Which is exactly the thing they accuse Christianity of.
