As an atheist, I think organizations like this are just obnoxious. A cross on public property, big deal. It's honoring the men who died in WWII and it's not hurting anybody. They could be promoting science and free thought, but instead they want to make asses of themselves. It's just stupid.

If they're truly atheist - why would a cross bother them. It's all foolish to them anyways right?

I think people need to band together and tell these wackos to go sit down and shut up, as one, back each other up. If they keep picking us apart one at a time we're going to lose.

I want freedom from radical atheists, or anyone, who demand tolerance but are intolerant toward others.

On public property, but paid for by private funds. We have monuments like this all over the place here as well. They commemorate the thousands and thousands of young men (mostly) who lost their lives in Civil/WWI/WII/Korean conflicts. Many of them were Jewish, some other religions.....but not all Christians. Leave them be. In the future let's all other faith based symbols...but leave these be.

VA grave markers have changed now, SJ And they have the symbol of the individual's religion on them as selected by the family. If you notice, in one of those rows is a white star of david.

Leave them alone. Seriously I'm agnostic and one of the least religious people I know and I think these people who run around saying we need to take down crosses or something with a religious significance to it rather silly.

I don't have a problem with it. I don't want people forcing their religions on others. In this case it was a cross to honor soldiers and was paid for with private money. I do have a problem if the government starts promoting one religion over another or show favoritism to one religious group over another. I don't want my tax dollars going to support any type of religious organization. I'll do that on my own...

I think the "Freedom from Religion" group is using people's ignorance against them, by claiming religion must be put in a walled off area away from the public square and trying to justify it by twisting the Constitution into something it absolutely doesn't mean. That document doesn't restrict We the People, but the government, and our religion may be freely exercised -everywhere-. You may not -force- someone to practice a particular religion, as they are free from such a thing, but displaying a monument is not a violation, period. Go protest the Obelisk of Washington, aka Washington Monument, the Temple of Lincoln, aka Temple of Zeus, the State of LIberty, aka goddess Libertas, and so forth if you're worried about something. This is about hatred toward Christianity, not religion in general.

That we let the dead vote. Let's see how many interned there were registered with the service as Christians and how many were registered as atheists. Majority wins.

I'm an Atheist. I don't believe in bothering anyone's religion as long as they keep it to themselves. If the cross is on a religious monument, let it stay. If it is a monument to some who may NOT be Christian, (included), then another (or several), monument(s) should be erected next to that one, respecting THEIR feelings and beliefs, or it SHOULD be removed. This is a "Freedom OF Religion" country, NOT a freedom for ONE religion (or none), country.

Freedom From Religion is a despicable organization who's end goal is nothing short of state imposed Atheism. Not only are they Atheists, but they think Atheists who say words like "Godspeed," and "Bless you" when people sneeze are not Athiest enough, as they want all things they view as "Religious Culture" erased. This is why when the Pledge of Allegiance has come under attack, they seek it's utter removal rather than the removal of the words Under God, which were only added later.

These people hate Atheists like Neil Degrasse Tyson, and a few of my friends, who keep their cultures intact, more than they do, me and other Christians. They claim that vestiges of the religious culture are the reason Atheist regimes committed the atrocitices these people blame unilaterally on religion. Of course they are turning a blind eye to the fact that every atrocity commmitted by the Chinese or the Russians was committed in the name of their ideology, and it was quite often done in their attempts to eradicate vestiges of religious culture. The main beef I have with this group, is they are the sort of atheist that to them it has become a religion, and they are every bit as militant as the Crusaders were in the 11th Century, and as Jihadists are today. It only momentarily happens that their weapons of choice is the Lawyer.

I think it is reprehensible that they are SO intolerant that the wishes of those who died to afford them the very FREEDOMS that GIVE them the ABILITY to protest cannot be honored...
    it is just sad.

Sometimes they just cry to much. The 1st Amendment does not mean religion cannot be recognized by the Government, it just means the feds cannot impose a national religion. Being that when this cross was put up, it was very acceptable to have crosses on our military memorials, there is no reason why it needs to be removed. Crosses on public property is not an establishment of religion. People need to stop the crying over this.

It's freedom OF religion, not freedom from it. They're attempting to enforce Atheism on others when everyone has the right to express their beliefs. It should stay. It's honoring the dead, which they deserve. I doubt it was paid for with tax dollars. I wouldn't want a cross removed from my grave because it offends someone. They're going too far.

I'm an agnostic and these atheist groups even give me a nosebleed! These people are as intolerant and strident as the worst religious fanatics! I fail to understand just what it is about this monument to America's war dead that offends these jerks. No one is shoving religion down their throats, but they seem bent upon shoving their viewpoints down everyone else's throats!
