Police officers have killed a 95-year-old man with stun guns and bean bag rounds after a confrontation near Chicago.
John Warna, who was living in a retirement home in Park Forest, Illinois, was killed on Saturday, NBC News reported.
The incident happened after the victim threatened paramedics and staff with a cane and a metal shoehorn when police arrived at the facility.
Police struck him with a Taser and bean bag rounds.
The Illinois resident was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he later pronounced dead.
Police officers use bean bag rounds, which are considered a “less lethal” way to stop suspects found by police to be dangerous.
Warna’s cause of death was not released by Saturday evening.
