74% of Americans Support Voter ID Laws: Do You?

BREITBART.COM reports:
One of the left's sillier temper tantrums is the fight against Voter ID laws. The law simply requires that a voter present a photo ID at the polling place, as a means to verify they are who they say they are. It is almost impossible to navigate daily life without a photo ID, yet the left argues that this burden is uniquely onerous. In their worldview, a person should be able to walk into the voting place, state a name and then vote without any verification the person is, in fact, that name. Fortunately, the American people loudly disagree.

I have to assume that those opposed to voter I.D. Laws merely wish to abet voter fraud, and are probably Democrats. It's their favorite tactic for stealing elections and has the tacit approval of the criminal attorney general Eric Holder.

that's a disingenuous statement. it matters not if voter fraud is prevalent, the idea is to ensure the accuracy of elections.

And how does the stooge at the polling place know you are the same person whose name is on their list?
    You have no pockets?
You can't afford a paper clip to attach your ID to the sample ballot?

Small town. We know each other.

It's not about pockets, paper clips or money.

What about absentee ballots, how will they show their ID?
  • Schläue~© Delicio... 2012/08/16 23:55:25
    Schläue~©
Doesn't matter if you have one stop sign printed on both sides. It's a statewide issue.

People have to sign their absentee ballot under penalty of perjury and face felony charges with stiff penalties if caught.
There's no way to track people who merely come into a polling place, recite a name & address and receive a ballot.

And you have to sign when you go into vote at the polling place. You sign a sticker. It's no different.
  • Schläue~© Delicio... 2012/08/17 00:16:13
    Schläue~©
Yes,... it is quite different because you aren't signing an actual document.
I don't believe signing a 'sticker' carries any legal significance.

For instance, some guy walked into a DC procinct, gave AG - Eric Holder's name and address and was given a ballot. He handed it back and left but just as easily could have filled the thing out and deposited it in the box.

Without verifying his ID, there would have been no way of knowing who had signed the registry and who was given the ballot.

Requiring a govt. issued picture ID makes the system as foolproof and legitimate as possible. If it didn't work, we wouldn't require it for 100 other daily functions and allow people to board airplanes in the honor system.

Provided the State covers all costs pertaining to obtaining an ID (including requesting a copy of your birth certificate from a hospital) and that the State pays for the expedited process of necessary identification if a voter wishes to obtain an ID in order to vote close to the election deadline.

Additionally, there should be a grand-father clause to protect the rights of older persons such as World War II veterans, many of whom were born without birth certificates to prove citizenship.

You need ID to get a job, drive a car, cash a check, or get a cell phone. How could it possibly abridge someone's right by requiring ID to vote.

Ask me about a nationalized ID, though, and I'll give you a different answer.

You know, until the Dems in Fl threw their hissy fit about ID, I never gave it a second thought. Go to Voting location, show ID, vote. Real simple....

Then I came across that vid on YouTube where a Democrat was caught on tape telling illegals they did NOT need papers, ID, nothing to VOTE.

Now this is one stellar Democrat...further "highlights" in her life: 2004 general election

Busby ran against then-Rep. Duke Cunningham in the 2004 U.S. House election, receiving 37% of the vote to Cunningham's 58%. Cunningham later resigned on November 28, 2005, after pleading guilty to federal charges of conspiracy to commit bribery, mail fraud, wire fraud, and tax evasion.

    Why shouldn’t it be required?

There are several more meaningless activities requiring identification than one as important as voting.

i.e. - taking vacation on a cruise ship while remaining in US territory.
    - gaining admission into various locations.
    - purchasing over-the-counter cough medicine.

I believe that the voter ID which was acceptable last election should still be acceptable.

Its a pity we are always looking for ways to exclude people rather than doing as Australia does an embrace all its citizens. There they want to know why you didn't vote and with a voter turn out consistently close to 100% of the adult population few need to!

I would have thought that those who voted last time without the new ID would have already proved who they were!

Personally I have a driver's licence, birth certificate and passport and find it hard to understand the circumstances of some, who for some reason don't have them, some state that their births were not registered due to home birthing, some are too poor to travel interstate to get the documentation required for the new ID from home states.

    Arse-Whole it beats me!

What a contrast is Australia where they insist on all citizens voting and its compulsory to registered on your 18th birthday!

I don't believe the election laws should be "changed" within an election (presidential) year, such as what recently passed in the state of PA (requiring photo I.D.). Sneaky Republicans can't win without cheating. If it's not voting machine tampering, it's something else. Anything at all except coming up with a fair and viable plan to inspire America.
