His life, his choice! I can tell you I have always 100% of the time recieved unconditional love from my pets and when they die, it is devastating. I have lost 2 long time pets in my life and it nearly killed me each time!

I seen the interview,He said he would do it again.He also said,that dog is his best friend,If you see a human or animal you love in harms way.I think your first reaction would be to
protect it.I know I would.

I snatched my puppy from the jaws of a huge bull dog. And I would save my dog anyway possible. Come 'ere boy!

He was lucky, though. Gators will eat ANYTHING. That Fish and Game idiot needs some up-close and personal time with them so he'll understand that any gator over 3' is TOO DAMN BIG. It's them or us.

I dunno. There was that story last week of the couple that drowned trying to save their dog The dog is OK They're dead. I guess it would depend on the event at the time

We often hear "a boy and his dog", but I don't believe the deep bond formed between human and dog is any less powerful because the "boy" became a man (or, the girl became a woman). You know, I bet if the alligator had grabbed the man instead of his dog, his dog would be just as adamant in its efforts to save the man. The human\dog bond is among the strongest cross-species relationships that I have ever heard of. It's obviously easier said than done, but I could not imagine NOT trying to save my own dog in a similar situation. My hat is off to you, Grandpa.

The gentleman saved his beloved friend and companion ..
GOOD for him ..
both survived ..
Now they can recover ..
(and the nuisance gator .. is now caught and getting stuffed .. )

It's good to see people caring for animals like they would for a human. I'm a true believer in animal rights and seeing this makes me want to give the man a gold medal.
