35 Hurt, 7 Killed in Chicago Shootings
Up to 200 police officers are
expected to be taken off the crime-ridden streets of Chicago to provide
security at the wedding of a senior White House adviser as President
Barack Obama flies in to attend.
President Barack Obama's visit to Chicago didn't stop another violent weekend.
At least seven people were killed and
35 were injured since Friday night. The youngest victim was a
16-year-old girl who died after she was shot three times in the chest
Saturday evening in the Englewood neighborhood.
Ten people were shot overnight
Friday, and in one hour Sunday morning, three people were killed. The
latest shooting happened just after midnight Monday when a 19-year-old
was shot to death on the city's North Side.
The shootings mark the third weekend in a row with gunfire injuries totaling well into the double digits. Last weekend, 46 people were hurt and eight killed across Chicago. The previous weekend, 29 were injured and three were killed in shootings.
"None of it is OK," Supt. Garry
McCarthy told NBC Chicago last week. "And I don't want it to seem like
we're managing it, but the realistic expectations have to be over the
long-term."
This weekend marked the beginning of
an overtime incentive program to put more police in neighborhoods where
crime is highest. Fewer than 60 officers signed up for the program,
though.
President Obama and his family arrived in Chicago Friday evening. They attended the wedding of senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett's daughter, and the president spent Father's Day golfing with friends.

Attacker Slashes Man’s Throat in Wrigleyville for No Apparent Reason
CBS Chicago, June 20, 2012
It was an attack so vicious that the victim was left with a massive gash across his throat and it happened just blocks from Wrigley Field.
..........
Michael Schmidt was walking his dog west on Byron Street near Wayne Avenue late Sunday night, when he says he encountered a person he described as a sociopath.
“An individual came up from behind, grabbed my chest with his left hand, took a 10-inch blade, slashed my throat from left to right,” Schmidt said. “He then took about ten steps back and just stood and watched me bleed.”
The Wrigleyville resident said he lost a massive amount of blood, and now has more than 40 stitches in his throat. He said, as bad as it is, emergency room doctors told him it could have been worse.
.........
Because the attacker didn’t flee right away, Schmidt said he got a real good look at his face as he stood under a street light. {snip}
..........
The alert included a sketch, and described the assailant as an African-American male around 30 years old, standing about 6 feet 1 inch tall with a dark complexion and an afro hairstyle.
Suspect
........
After the stranger attacked him, Schmidt said he asked the man why he did it.

After the stranger attacked him, Schmidt said he asked the man why he did it.
“He never said one word. He stood there for about ten seconds, turned around, walked away,” said Schmidt.
Schmidt said he believes his dog might have saved his life, by stepping in front of the attacker after the initial cut.
.........
“The look in his eyes, it was just … I will never forget it,” said Schmidt.
.........
“He had a very crazed look on his face. No look of remorse whatsoever,” Schmidt said.

I posted days ago about Lakeview...fine neighborhood. That's why I know 90% on this poll wouldn't last ten ticks. Hell, I'd give them a 1/2 block to get in their car and leave. They talk a lot of smack, bet they would never prove up or be deer in headlights, that's for sure. Love how they always talk so badass. Let's roll anytime. And they haven't a clue as to exactly how crazy we are----fact!
