He orchestrated it,then appeared on talkshows laughing and joking like he didnt have a care in the world.I absolutely cannot believe that anyone would be so disrespectful to their memory,to vote for that p.o.s.

Well, perhaps something of value, but was it worth the cost in lives or money? Certainly Obama would not have wished to have to deal with this problem that was left on the desk in the Oval Office.

I can't understand why Obama campaigned on the idea that Afghanistan was "the good war". And I don't have any idea why we are there. Bush made a mistake in invading but Obama compounded the mistake by escalating. For what? He added 1,400 more dead Americans to the 620 that died under Bush, caused the death of thousands of Afghan citizens, led to many more terrorists joining the cause. Bin Laden was in Pakistan the whole time so that wasn't the reason unless Obama is lying.
And, although hardly any one is reporting it, things are as bad now as they were 4 years ago. The only change is now the Taliban have more targets and all the Americans are doing is looking for IEDs which wouldn't be there if they weren't there. The height of stupidity.

I think that war is conducted by our Military-Industrial Complex housed in the Pentagon. They must have an enemy somewhere to justify the huge amounts of money they spend every year, the same amount as all the rest of the world spends on such things. I haven't any details to explain why we remain in Afghanistan as the Pentagon doesn't reveal it's reasons, for good reason I suppose.

All war is a stupid endeavor, so don't become overwrought when one continues. Just imagine how Wall Street would react to our not having any enemy and reducing the amounts of money given to Lockheed, Boeing, Texas bases, and the thousand other corporations dependent on the "enemies". Note the whining and threats presently in the media releases from the right wing, claiming the economy will again collapse if the budgets of the Pentagon are reduced.

Just today Mitten announced his V.P. choice who has proposed spending even more on military hardware and arranging for the termination of Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, and other programs that benefit the 98% of population not connected to the war making. So, the Rep Party obvioously is going to make warmaking a part of the election campaign for the next few weeks. Choices, you have choices.

Scott Simon, a Quaker and NPR reporter, said that he was against war until he saw the mass graves in Yugoslavia. I remember my history and know that in the 1930s Italy was invading Ethiopia, Germany taking over Austria and Czechoslovakia, and Japan was invading Manchuria and doing the Rape of Nanking. The world did nothing and 55 million died. I also remember Pol Pot, Rwanda, and others in which the world did nothing and millions died.
I realize no one cares but the death rate in Iraq dropped the minute we invaded and the population jumped 35% in 10 years. In my mind Iraq was worth it. Rwanda would have been worth it, as Clinton implied.
I am opposed to increasing the military but I am not convinced that a)that will happen, and b)there is much of a difference with Obama. As you say, it is a military industrial complex that special interests support.
BTW, I am an old person and I am not concerned about Ryan and Medicare. When I was a 22 yr old liberal I realized that it is wrong and condescending to make decisions affecting groups other than my own. So, young people should not worry too much about granny being thrown down the cliff because many of us old people aren't worried.

When you find yourself and your friends "without a voucher" and the Doctor refuses to see you and you no longer have meds for diabetes and the nursing home moves your Aunt to a tin shed on the parking lot, you might begin to worry. If you don't, then we will know your dementia has overtaken all good sense and compassion.Owning one more aircraft carrier while handicapped children and bed ridden elderly die for want of care is just the sort of thing any of the murderous regimes you describe would have chosen. Sorry, I don't buy the choices you would make.

No current program covers nursing home care. PPACA doesn't address it. People need to pay that themselves. And Medicare is a very limited program-people still need their own private insurance.
And the thread is Afghanistan military policy. Thousands are dying under Obama's Afghanistan policy and there is no improvement in sight. I imagine that we will pull out in 4 years or so and declare victory.

I don't hear him demanding an apology from Karzai, so I can only judge from that.

Under the rules of engagement 0bama instituted, our troops have been dying at an extreme rate, much higher than they were under George W. Bush. This has not been reported by any mainstream news agency that I am aware of, therefore not only does 0bama not give a damn about our troops - neither does the liberal news media.
